Sneaky cops in SA...
just got this...seems legit too, cos i recognise the roads..
The speed cameras are being hidden in increasingly sneaky places!!
This one was taken today (11 Feb 2007) on the corner of Liebelt Road and Echunga Road in the Adelaide Hills.
It was in a WHEELIE BIN with a slot cut out near the top for the camera!
You can see the slot in the bin. You can also see the battery pack on the ground near the bin (cleverly covered with greenery)
I stopped and asked the operator (who was in a car 100 metres away) how many he had caught today. His answer was "A heap! Around 350 so far."
He didn't think it was unethical or unlawful (I have my doubts) and nor did the department.
SO BEWARE! The department is resorting to increasingly hidden and sneaky ways of raising revenue.
Pass this on....... and beware driving in the Hills

that is down right illegal as far as i am concerned and an obvious example ( if true) of our pathetic the girls in blue can be. I am sure there is a law about fair game when it comes to stuff like that. Being in a farming area as to where it looks they should put some radar cams up a pigs rectum and lens out its snout. Now thats a better and more ethical way of doing it. At least if someone yells' shit....pigs are up ahead'...then its very obvious as their is one up ahead and they can slow down.
cops are great.but the few that spoil it and make the honest ones look bad and tarnish's it for them.
You wanna radar and take $$$$$ off hard working aussies....sit your ass on a seat in the sun on the side of the road with your radar and sweat your ass off for your money like the rest of us.
Sorry Ardvarck.......no offence intended to you or your fellow workmates but this really pisses me off

A well constructed, thought-out and polished argument Rocco, how could anybody argue with you?rocco wrote:that is down right illegal as far as i am concerned and an obvious example ( if true) of our pathetic the girls in blue can be. Don't They Have.......
Don't you guys have entrapment laws? Anything taken with that in NSW would be thrown out of Court.

There are no etrapment laws. And regardless, this is hardly entrapment.
I can understand why everyone jumps up and down about stuff like this, after all, I enjoy a spirited blat in the hills like the rest of you, but, and it's a pretty bloody simple but......
There is a speed limit. You get fined/lose demerit points/lose your licence if you choose to speed. At the end of the day, it's your choice. Get the fuck over it.
We can all argue the pros and cons of speed limits til we are blue in the face, but at the end of the day, the limits are set to try and minimise the carnage in the event of an accident.
So, if you happen to be speeding along a well known country road, where every 3rd car/bike is speeding and you get caught by some tricky hidden camera. Stiff shit.
It's also illegal to get around murdering people. Yet, for whatever reason, some people feel the need to do it. Some people feel the need to do a string of them. If the Police put a hidden camera in a murder hot-spot, all the murderers would be crying:
"That's bullshit. They shouldn't be allowed to put a camera in a lamp post, just to catch us out breaking the law."

5k over = $250
Track day @220kph all day = $120
Do the math guys! Fun needs calculated risks.

Well since the bin was right on the corner, someone should have just moved it up to the straighter piece of road so the garbage truck could empty it in a safer spot.
and when confronted by the cop who was minding it, explain why you are doing it
can't see a problem with that
