Well kids, it was a looong time ago, but I think it went something like ... The first 'proper' bike I rode was a Honda XL175 and I was young and impressionable... So I got myself a CT125.
Anyway my brother in law had a Kwaka 250, I think it might have been a KT or a KX (we ARE talking seventies) and I just fell in love with the colour.
Over the next few years there were so many bikes in the family that we couldn't remember who belonged to what. My brother and sister both had Spewzukis - PE250 and RM125 and there was a DT Honda hanging about, then I got a Yammy YZ250. That was a weapon! The brother in law got himself a 750 triple, so that must be when we decided to get road bikes and I got a Kawasaki LTD250. It was unloved, unregistered and matt black. I got it all tidied up and repainted in the sparkly red and I was going to register it and get my licence.
Then there was the Police incident, and I had to get rid of it quick.
The only time I could ride after that was if someone would loan me a bike, like the Z750  but there was never any question that my next bike would be a Kawa. No matter what colour the bike is, I'll always have green blood.

Although after working on a dozen farms, I think Honda make the best quad.

When i was a Tacker my uncle who used to ride "best of British" used to let me snatch the posters out of his magazines 7 my Favorite was of "G Crosby" tossing this huge wheelie on a "Gren meanie from the mid 70's.
then when i was looking at getting my licence both my Brother & Cousin owned gpz11's, Always admired Kwakas', but took me too long to get away from the Spewies, Rhonda's & Yeehas before i bought the 9, no going back now. Typical of me too take so long to realise what I've been missing out on, DOH.

had chookies for years of all brands, never had a licence but
Got a Z9 in a box for $50 with a manual when I was about 18, had to get a head but as old mate had wrecked it. So my first roadie was a Z9 with a mural on the tank that I rebuilt myself. I must have been mad. Lost my best mate on a bike (bloody XV750) so sold the 9 but the Kwaka bug had bit and I have been green ever since. Played on YZ's and CR's for years (oops) and a KTM but a new GF got me back into roadies and I bought a BolDor (shame) AND A licence (25 I think I was  ) then an RX1000 and finally traded that on my dream bike a ZX7R (green natch) I blame the Go Show too. Ditched the ex of 16 years for a ZX12R, bloody good trade I reckon... both chewed me up and spat me out of course  But the 12 was a WAY better ride  Lots of others in there but thats the main ones. Oh a KLR600 nearly killed me (well the chick that turned through the red light did, but I was on the KLR)

Great thread by the way

As for me it was curiosity,I had my first kawa ride on a GTO 125 it was crap so later thru the years i bought a '90 ZXR750 H1 green sportsbike, i was 20 .....wow it was an incredible bike back then since i sold my Suzuki Katana, the handling ,the growling airbox noises, the power and of course the washing machine hose looking thing on the tank  .
Rode a few other makes but still prefered kawas till today, it must had some effect subconciously 8)

I learned to ride on a Suzuki TS on a farm way back when.

My first road bike was a GPX250 which was given to me by my cousin. 'Twas in lovely nick. I gave it back after getting a Honda. He then gave it to someone else who promptly crashed it. Anyway, a few bikes later my choice of bike came down to either a Thundercat or ZZR600, with whichever bike that came up at the right price getting the nod. While I liked the look of the "alien" (thanks, Brett) sixes and nines, at the time they were a tad out of the price range. I've had a lot of fun on the ZZR (yes, I've still got it after swearing I'd sell it when I got the 9), and still ride it occasionally. The only real issue it's got is ground clearance.

My old man always rode Kawasaki's and so I followed I guess. I tried other brands, CBR929 honda and GSXR750 suzy but I never felt at home on them. I had a KX250, Z250, KR1, ZXR750 and now the ZX6R. They are rough and rugged and talk to you unlike other japanese brands. I guess it's the most un-japanese motorcycle to ride and they make me feel good riding them... The Honda may as well ride itself it's so refined and boring....

Had no bike for a couple years, then eventually fuel got too expensive so got rid of the car and started hunting for a Blackbird (yeah a honda) but couldn't find any for a good price. Then I thought stuff it I'll get something fast that can do a bit of long distance (hence the 1litre bikes were out). The hayabusa was high on my list but the prices were and still crazy, and it's not the best looking thing. Then I discovered the 12 and it was love at first sight :D

i would have to say that my story was identical to the above...

i always a SP1 or 2. but the price was too hight... so my love of my life appeared....
