i remeber few weeks back it was a bloody hot morning so went out in the light summer riding gear, anyway was about 50 or so k's from home. Then it starts to spit very lighting, while i am thinking oh this isn;t too bad.. should get home just in time to cover the bike over....give it 2 or 3 minutes and litterly 100mm of rain fell!

I was stunned by how much rain there was as 1 minute its hot, clear sky and sunny next minute its flash floods!

636 was having a fun time wheel spinning then when a car would pass me if i had of grabbed the surf board out i could have ridden the tidal waves that where washing over me!

it was quite an experience... when i got home tho it was out with the grease to stop the lovely rust from eating the bit to death!! all sorted now!

I never minded the rain really - apart from ended up at work wet on the odd occasion.
Requires a different set of skills, makes you a more rounded rider in my opinion.

If you were riding at no less than 1015 millibars, rain would be the least of your worries; you'd be below sea level!!

I love riding in the rain. Teaches you to be smooth and fluent and also heightens your anticipation skills.

Back in 1998, when it actually used to rain up here, we copped 3 weeks of constant, steady rain. Every day, For 3 weeks solid. It was during autumn I think. All day and all night. Non-stop.

I was riding the Pearl to/from work, as per normal. (No other transport.)By the end of the first week, I could get it sideways when coming out of the big roundabouts along the lake.

By the end of the 2nd week, it was sideways going in to the roundabouts, and sideways coming out. I had never ridden in the rain as constantly as this, and even though it was a pain with wearing all the wet weather gear, as ridiculous as this sounds, I *loved* riding in the rain over this period.

By the end of the 3rd week it was just one long slide into and out of the roundabout, with cars bipping horns and madly on the brakes, they all thought I was about to spoon it, of course I am laughing my head off inside the lid !!

This has never happened since. It was the only time I have *ever* felt safe and comfortable doing crazy things in the wet. It was just a result of becoming very familiar and confident in the road conditions and the ability of the bike to cope with low-speed slides, day in and day out........

Now, we are lucky to get 3 hours of rain, let alone 3 days

and 3 weeks in a row ??

Not in my children's lifetime.........

I think we have had three dryish days over the last two weeks. If I didnt need to be reasonably dry and tidy at work... though I'd want a pos for this kind of weather.

That's completely untrue. The earth does not have a standard atmosphere. That's the reason airports provide QNH, so you can compensate for the pressure difference.
