got a 7x4 box trailer that we use to transport bikes.
2nd hand trailers are either rooted or near impossible to find and when you do find them they cost only slightly less than new.
this one cost $800 brand new with 12mnths rego.
you can fit 2 road bikes in it. we just tie them down and use a plank as a ramp.
eventually i want to put those front wheel locking thingos in there so all you gotta do is ride up the ramp and the front wheel is captured by the gadget. makes it easier for one person to load.

as far as i know in NSW if you are taking in onto public road its gotta be rego'd.
unless its a pushie then you can do what ever the hell you like on the road.
we dont have to get CTP (greenslips) for trailers as they are covered by the vehicle that is towing it at time of accident.
maybe some different rules in VIC or other states.

I use a 7x4 box trailer it has channels up the front for the front wheel with a flat floor i use a tyre down on the rear wheel

In Victoria any trailer over 6x4 has to be registered but rego is only about $40 a year a 6x4 was to short for me to put 2 bikes in but it is handy to use the trailer for things other than just a bike only trailer. I also had some extra tie down points added

Id have to agree too Jase (about a big NO), you can leave one seat in, I use to fold up the rear one and let it back down once the bike was in, BUT NOT a baby capsule
... Also you DO get a fuel/oil/tyre smell, no doubt about it.
Not too bad in the front but in the back.... wouldnt chance it.
Oh and used to make sure the bike was tied in SECURELY front and rear.
Didnt like the idea of 200kg of bike bashing around in side the cage with me in case of a roll over. BUT I wouldnt actually put anyone IN the back with a bike, it was more of a shelf than anything, although I did have a couple of hitchhikers one time and the guy wanted to SIT on it crushed between the roof and the tank (go figure).
I am more worried about my legs in a rear ender but, I must be honest.
its gone now anyway... $500 *sigh*, gotta pay for SBK....

I think if you get your hands on a Golf cart/buggy trailer they are also perfect for bikes.
Most are only about a foot of the ground and can be tilted down all the way too the ground if need be.
Me and a mate had an R1 on one yesterday fit perfect in length and plenty to play with in width.
Just a suggestion.
