Been a while... Need bike advice

Thanks guys, turns out my local shop has both a 6 and a 9 in those years in stock I'm off today to ride both and see what i think... I'll get back to you shortly.

Just got back, you wouldn't believe it they had sold the 6. but i got to take the 9 for a ride. I must say i was blown away and don't think i went over 5000 revs... I must admit it was intimidating at first but very enjoyable and heaps of torque. Whilst it cornered better then the ER5 it did feel like i really had to lean of it to get it down even a little. Now i just have to find a 6 to try. Sad thing was when i got back on the ZZR250 it felt like this...

A nine can be alsorts of handling depending on how its set up

find one, take it for a spin, and you will find that the 6 is a lot of fun as well, but you need to keep them spinning *hard* to get the most out of them. The 9 is a bit more relaxed...........

In the end, its whatever feels like its right for *you* that matters.

What year model 9 did you ride Olly ?

The B series are big and heavy, C's are nicer but are sometimes reported to have gearbox problems. E's and F's are better (IMHO), F's being the pick of the bunch.

I have seen a few E series (2000/2001) 9's go for about the sort of money you're talking about if you're patient.

Nice, thats what i orgianlly had in mind. I know where that exact model is in a store about an hour away. I might go for a ride and test it...

Any idea of shipping costs?

I'd say they're both well over-priced mate, particularly the '98. I paid $10.5k for an '03 with 10K km and Philthy wants $9 for a 44K old '98 ... dreamin'.

I think,your first choice is good but a bit pricey Oliver for that year model,
and the second is a good cheap buy.but thats all

Thanks guys, I was not gunna buy the one central coast motorcycles, just using them to ride their bikes. (I get harassed by the sales ppl every time i go in there) Its just case of finding the right one, I'm trying to be patient.

It was the ZX900B In a straight line it was ok, but at slow-mid speed turn felt really unstable and heavy, even to point scary at one stage. I wanted to give a bit on an open bit of road, revved it up and start going through the gears (For me it was quite fast but for the bike it was mid rev range) between 4th-5th the gearbox just went into Neutral and wouldn't let me change up or down, I had to slow right down to an almost dead stop to go back down the gears. Anyway i rode it back to the guy and said I would think about it... He seemed pretty keen to tell him he would negotiate the price, wonder why...

Thanks guys, i felt a lot more prepared when looking at this bike! Now to keep looking...

I'm heading up in the next couple of days to check this out.

8000k, MRAE carbon fiber pipe.1999 model. They want $7990, which a grand over the market value. according to the guy i spoke with "they is nothing wrong except for some perishing of the indicator rubbers which we are replacing" anyway, its a good excuse to visit all the dealers in Newcastle.

Olly, that doesn't look like an original '99 colour and 8000km's is very few. I'd suggest it's been pranged and may have had the instrument cluster replaced too. Give it a good check for signs of crash damage, particularly to the frame. Check for damage around the headstock and underneath the plastics too - it's easy to hide some damage to the frame behind the side fairings.

Looking more closely at the pic it doesn't have original plastics (the belly pan and side fairing appear to be one piece) so I'm guessing it's wearing race-glass too.

By the looks of it the bike might be at Newcastle Wholesale ? If so they're generally pretty reasonable guys but do tend to ask a lot of money for their bikes.

Smack bang on the money. Either way its the first op i have had to ride a 6 in this era... Its amazing how well the Kawasaki's hold there value, "other" similar manufacturers 6 and 9 are a few grand less...
