Not worried about what you guys think of me, more whether the power of a 750 would be too much. Personally I don't think so but then I didn't say that in the post because I am looking for other views and experiences.

I looked at and rode the GSXR600 then the GSXR750 straight after and found the revs on the 600 needed to be a lot higher. The 750 seemed more user friendly with a more useable power over the rev range.
Try both cc's as as close together as possible then make your choice.
Go for something on the older size as mentioned before until you are used to it then work your way up the power ranks or onto a newer ride.

Yeah the other bike I am seriously considering is the GSXR600. I think they look great and I have ridden my mate's k4 a lot and really like it. Also its at least $2K cheaper than the 750.
I guess what I am thinking of is trying to avoid wanting a 1000 in a few years - the 750 has a bit extra than the 600 without being crazy powerful.
I'm going to try to get a test ride of the 750, after that I'll decide.

i was having a a chat with a bloke that works for a suzi dealer and he reckons the brand newie is absoulety awesome. I took a 97 gsxr600 for a spin and thought it needed more power. Took an 02 gsxr1000 for a spin and man did i cream my pants. Also a mate has a 98 gsxr750 and that seems to be a very nice bike to ride but i personally perfer the zx7r over it.
Go the 600 mate-don't be in a hurry to get the bigger bike,enjoy the journey, the 600 is a good class and you can gain good experience on them and if you like riding the hills you wouldn't be much-if any faster-than on a ZX6R.

I honestly doubt that I will ever bother with a litre bike... I for a start will never be able to outride a modern 600....... so I'd rather take the pretty large saving in insurance & rear tyres... and spend that on track days
and get a 600.... if ya want one with lots of poke... get the ZX6R... those extra 37cc make a fair bit of difference in the every day ride-ability...
Just bought a GSXR600 K7 from A1 Brighton - Suzuki: matt black and black. $13.5K rideaway - an excellent deal. Got a service thrown in as a sweetener. Have had crash nobs and red rim tape fitted to it but otherwise stock standard.
Test rode the 750 a few weeks ago, really liked it but in the end couldn't justify $2K more when I don't have the experience to make the most of the power.

the point was mate he was giving u the advice u requested, and abt 4 or 5 ppl agreed...yet u turned it down cold...
his point was valid- if u already kno wot u want, dont ask...
on the other hand, glad to hear u got a new bike..600 is a much better step up than a 750/1000 tho... i too woulda went a few yrs older, and spent less...
