
Car drivers - Give the L' platers a break

if they are tailgaiting you, move around lots, side to side, then turn around and look at them.
i find a bit of eye contact always calms a driver down.
i had a guy following me about 1m off my ass in a 40 school zone, i turn around and look at him
as to say "whats up?"
and he tuggs at his fire brigade shirt to say "fugg off im a firie i can do what i want"
so i put my hand over my head and made circles with my finger as to say "where's ya fuggin flashing light then?"
he conceded defeat and laughed and hit the steering wheel and followed me another 1km to the fire station where i waved to him at to say "see ya later fcker!!"

some poor bloke probly lost his bike and house in a fire...
but untill they get the volenteers cars with sirens, they can follow a Kwak with an attitude who felt like doing the speedlimit.

Now I dont know if this is because I have a shiny yellow L plate on the back of my bike, but sometimes they dont even move to the other side of the road, they only move half way off the road to overtake.

I know it is a bastard when this happens but one of the worse things you can do is move over in your lane to let them through. 9 times out of ten they will not bother moving in to the next lane to pass you. You always have to make them change lanes for your own safety.

Unfortunately mate this is what some arseholes in cars do (don't discount the fact that other bikes will do this to you as well).
I'd suggest being assertive on the road rather than aggressive. Do your buffering as normal to give space between you and oncoming cars, cars at sidestreets, and in front so you've got space to stop. This will also make them wonder what your doing and hopefully encourage them to back off a bit. Make the turd get on the wrong side of the road to overtake you ie provided there are no cars coming the other way stay in the right hand wheel track at the speed limit and wait until he pulls on to the other side of the road. When he does then move position to the left wheel track to give yourself more space until he's gone past you. Don't move to the left when they are behind you as this is simply inviting them to share your lane thus putting you in danger.
Given that you're on a 250 with an L Plate the wankers think they can intimidate you. It tends to stop when you're off your L's but there are always shitheads out there.
Stay safe mate and take it easy.

Yeh thats what my Dad said. Also, when you stay on the right keep moving around a little bit. I find most mirrors are set down the side of the car and if you are on the right, you can see their faces in the mirror, giving the ones who don't use their shoulders the chance of seeing you.
One last thing, i don't think they stress the importance of indicators in the courses. I strongly believe a lot of t-bones are caused by bikers forgetting to turn off their indicators, and the driver taking the chance that you are turning. Practice...indicate----turn---off until you don't have to think about it anymore. If a driver thinks you might be turning, they will take the chance.

That is bloody good advice! But I also see a lot of other riders, on big bikes with no L's, forgetting theirs too.

Some of the drivers out there are nuts but you realy need to keep your witts about you eventually you will get used to it. Best advice is use your lane and ALL of it if they see you less chance getting into trouble. Keep a buffer between you and them adn always look for an escape route, incase something happens
As for indicators the Honda Rider Training i did me L's with did go over it really well, track riding in their compound, if you didn't use them or forgot to turn them off he would pul you up on it. At the time i thought "what a cranky bastard" but now i have the total opposite opinion.

i often find beeping my horn like crazy, sticking my finger up at people then pulling up next to them and just unleashing on them helps when they do something stupid, often the reaction is they just look the other way or they say sorry! unless u get the odd knob head who feels he/she is never wrong in which times u must use much harsher measures!
