Hey Jibbers if money is a drama then DONT get Alex at Lae to do you a "scratch map" it ll cost you a busload in extra fuel costs. Big Kev gets the reserve flash light blinding him after about 170kms on the ZX12r Alex mapped for him. But definately no flat spots

re: stock Vs aftermarket can?
yeah true, you guys know I will never get that stuff put on but its alright to dream isnt it?? you just never know what I am going to do next!!!
And its not so much for horse power as my six on paper will pump out about 110-115ps with the micron( thats the avg with a aftermarket slipon from reading things here and there but would need to do a dyno run to be sure ) and my old 9R in stock fashion pumped out 121ps as I had that dyno sheet from the guy I bought it off.
It is more so to get it running just right at both ends of the scale, but like I said it is highly unlikely I will ever have that gear put on. I am just spruking as usual.
As for the 10, their to slow for me!! will stick with the 6

aahhh but my dear friend Brett the beauty with a Power Commander is you can go back to factory with no intervention from the PC.
This I would use for commuting and the other map for fun in them thar hills boy and if I ever get the balls enough to take the bike to a track!!!!
Like I said the flat spots arent that bad and only occur every now and then probably once or twice a ride so I would go back to 0 map or whatever it is called for commuting to get that much needed fuel economy.
And bits for ya bike no matter how good or useless or money wasting are good arent they? as long as they look good or you have that little trick up your sleeve to show off and stand around for at least 2 hours talking about it?
And hell might get a third map just for the hell of it!!!

and would ya beleive it all this commuting from up here I have put 1200k's on it since I bought it and am now getting ready for the 6k service!! bought it with 4500 on it and now has 5700k's if its not one thing its another!!!

re: stock Vs aftermarket can?
Hey Guys. first post here, using my kawiforums nic. I'm waiting on the arrival of a Ti Yoshi system for my '98. I wouldn't have paid retail for it but its cost me $660 so I'm not complaining. I bought it mainly for the note and the fact that the factory system weighs 10.5 kgs and this weighs 6 kgs and when the bike weighs 176 compared to the current models 161 you need to shave off all the weight you can.
Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.

Welcome to the forums AN.
re: stock Vs aftermarket can?
First post!
Manufacturers would probably invest as much time into the exhaust as is required to pass sound levels / emissions testing and visual appeal to the buyer. Knowing that those that want a different note / more performance will just change the pipe anyway. So performance isnt really important, just make the bike run well and be quiet. Also this would keep costs down, making the pipe cheap.. That is ofcourse until you need a new one from your local dealer and get hit with a bill of $800!
Im now in the market for a pipe for my '02 ZX9R, any suggestions what to get and where to get it from? The bike feels silent with the stock setup.

Welcome AN and Rexxxy.
As far as buying a can local we pay way too much. My advice is get one from OS you'll be suprised how much $$$ you can save and the Aust $
is getting stronger against the $US at the moment.
