Save the rescue helicopters
I wasn't with it enough at the famed putty incident to know which choppers lifted Dave#3, Hoffy and I out, but regardless of who it was they do a great service and I think the current shenanigans are a shame.
Sign the petition to save them.... who knows, it may help.

PS - if you're out of state and are unaware of what's going on the link explains a little. In summary our rescue service is getting outsourced.

It was the Westpac chopper I believe and they did a great job.. except for the bit when they straightened your leg out. The sight and sound of bones snapping together was quite unpleasant for us spectators. You didn't seem to mind as you drifted off into a drug enduced haze...

I also heard they are struggling with funds atm as ppl have stopped donating due to the announced changes...

It is being outsourced right? that means you will still have a helicopter though......
As far as a cheaper service goes.... this is not always the case.... We used to do work for government departments.... their budget to hire staff was $50k per year (for a network admin) but because they outsourced it the budget was $340k per year........ (crazy but true....)

We'll still have choppers, they'll be older, and they'll cost us taxpayers more.
Shamelessly snaffled quote from BikersAnon....
tyNSW Health forced Westpac Choppers to drop operating costs and forced them
into smaller newer choppers to cut overheads.
NSW Health are now saying the choppers are too small with Westpac and are
employing the Canadian Helicopter mob who purchased the old clapped out
choppers.
So the end result is;
We loose experienced crews.
We get clapped out helicopters.
NSW Health beauracrats stay in power and still screw with our lives.
If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.

Done
We had something similar in England, what they termed the "Air Ambulance' was under threat. I was knocking with a bunch of angles at the time (don't ask), and we organised a benefit rally nicknamed "Raise The Chopper". Certainly got some awarenes, plenty of beer and quite a bit of cash too.
