For those who had the Ventura gear fail, which piece of gear was it, and how did it fail?
I just bought a Ventura seat bag and have strapped it to the pillion seat, it looks to be sufficient but i'd like to know what happened and should i expect anything?

Thanks in advance. :)

Strika has had some problems with his bigger bags. I've got one of those pillion bags and haven't had any problems with it hanging on up to $2.35...just remember to do the clips up (only forgot once  )

I have seen Mick C's well used tailbag, and it looks to have hung together really well, all things considering (Well Imagine being THAT close to mick's arse for that amount of time!! Especially at slow speeds  )

My Ventura experiences are only with the large "Rally Bag" which mounts to a standard Loop "Ventura" rack. So my comments on the large bag, may not apply to the smaller tail bags. They could be manufactured using different materials, and even be manufactured in different places. But the standard "Rally Bag" did nothing to boost my confidence in "Ventura" Bags.

Here's how confident I was in the product, to avoide yet another failure mid trip, I went and bought a "Gearsack" brand bag the same as the Ventura "rally Bag" rather than risk another failure that could perhaps delay or interupt my next trip.

Thanks for that, i looked at the Ventura racks but don't really want another rack again as my need for bike luggage is not that great anymore.
Sick of backpacks so this little seat bag does my commutes to work and a day ride bag for throwimg the camera/water bottle in. :)

i have my dads old ventura bag, its about 40L and expands, its zipper has been attached with a safety pin for about 4 years now, :D
i think it cane out when dad used to load up his buell, to go on weekend trips with his mrs...

i have a tail bag like Mick C, its awesome! i have contemplated buying the expandable version, coz the little one only fits wet weather suit (that leaks anyway) and gloves (i carry my mesh ones everywhere)

the little tail bag will leak, mine did a full day ride in rain and lasted ok, for about 3 hrs, then became soaked. but we did do alot of parking the bikes in the rain and talking under the shelter.

so it did just get left out in the rain for 8 hrs. if i was a bag, i'd be leaking too

With my old "Gearsack" bag, I could ride all day in pouring rain, and the worst would be a little dampness in the bottom of the bag, but no pools of water. The "Ventura" bag however, didn't make it to the first service centre outside of Melbourne before the bags inside (I had been cautious enough to pack everythin in plastic bags) became wet on the outside. So hopefully the new bag will be a little more waterproof too.
