Post by Buck »

Just got done in some twisties near Ipswich in a 80kmh bit of B road and I had to go on a bit to find a safe place for us both to pull over but acknoledged id been pinged. He got me mid apex coming the other way. First thing he said was thankyou for stopping. asking me if I knew what speed I was doing I said smidgin over 100 ( knowing it was way over  ) after telling me the real number (117kmh) He put 99kmh on the ticket ($150) and sent me on my way. He was an old(er) snr sgt with a young chicky riding shotgun..

Always be polite and helpful. I thought I was a done deal pedestrian.

and no ponti it wernt the fumes he smelt but you can still do the I TOLD YOU

I must admit that I've never met a bad cop, got pulled over a few times and all of them were very polite and professional, even the plain clothes in unmarked cars.

Maybe these cops agree on how harsh our speeding laws are? 99 in an 80 is still 3 points, as 93 in an 80 would be too. :( Good that some of them cut some slack. Bikes are different vehicles to trucks etc (i.e. they have far less mass to stop) and should be subject to different speed limits IMHO. :)

here here, Bonester!
I swear that I read about some BMW driver getting off a speeding fine due to his plight about it being designed/engineered for the speed he was doing....???
Damn, Buck, hope you still have a few points left to play with?

Buck, a bugger about the points, but at least he was good enough to knock the points off! As you said, being polite and treating the police officer has a human makes a difference.

Another good police story was that I was on my way home from work on Wed night after a 21:15 finish, and drove through an RBT. There was nothing random about this RBT, everyone was getting pulled into it! Anyway, I was in uniform & the officer was walking towards my driver window preparing his breath analyzer kit. He looked over at me, and then stood back about 1 meter from my window with his kit behind his back, and started whistling. I asked him if he was going to test me, he smiled, nodded towards my uniform, and said "no need". Not that I had had a drink anyway, but that was a good thing!
Cheers,
Anne

My tip, he was too aroused by having this "young chicky" in his car to give a fuck about how fast you were going, and to impress her.

I think most of them do that, tell you that they will take some of the kays off.
Unless you see their reading they could just be lying and tell you that they will make it so and so less kays to keep up good PR.
It doesn't hurt to be polite though.
