It didn't "hit" the ground, only spun on the tie downs, flipping itself over and "resting" on the clutch lever (breaking it of course, damn thing).
If I wasn't sweating from the heat (damn its hot in there) I was when that happened. After all that I didn't have a big enough socket to get the swingarm pivot bolt undone anyway, grrrrr. Anyways got the subframe, 4 pegs and the backend of the motor clean. That aussie export degreaser is good stuff.
So shouldn't be any complications from having the engine near upside down I hope, it'll sit for a few days the right way up so any oil will have drained back down.

looks a bit hectic ? bloody tie-downs - if you are going to keep using these to hold the bike up, best bet is to splay them out w-i-d-e-l-y ...... ie use hanging points in the roof that are *well* apart. Doing it like this will guarantee that the bike won't twist itself around and fall over.....also learnt this the hard way a long time ago

They were as wide as I can get them (roof config limits that a bit). I've fixed it up now with tie downs at the front as well (now its more like a swing). Main problem was I was in the middle of tightening them, and one was much shorter than the other. But phhew lucky it was just a clutch lever and nothing more serious.

I remember when i was doing the fork seals about 3 days after buying my 7 and i had no stands, so i jacked it up on a trolley jack with a plank of wood on top of the jack. Well, lets just say it was millimeters from the ground.
Was quite difficult getting it up there, with no weight in the rear (did the swingarm yesterday) the sump was behind the COG and therefore jacking it just lifted the arse end up further, but I managed and this time it didn't fall over.
Swingarm and associated bits are are sparkling clean now. I'll wait till I've cleaned up the front end before regreasing everything and popping it back together. Will probably pop the triple clamps off tonight and get them preped for cleaning later over the weekend.
I guess you could say that I've reached the half way point of the great wash now, waiting for some parts from Race Rep still (fuel lines, clutch lever, top headstem seal (mines breaking up)). Then I'll bung it all back together with a ton of new grease and she'll be right to go again. Brake lines and seals should be replaced as well but I'm going to wait till the new year and grab some braided lines, so I'll do the lot at once.
