Ripping LPG Setup out of a Van

Post by I-K »

I have a 91-model LWB Mitsubishi Express which the previous owner has converted to dual fuel and the thing's never run right. Because the tiny LPG tank gives me only some 220km range and because LPG vehicles are subject to annual inspections in the ACT, the extra arseache associated with the LPG isn't worth the slightly lower fuel costs, so...

...what's the smartest way to go about dismantling the LPG system, and would there be any money to be made in selling it to someone?

Obviously, I'd be reluctant to try this in the shed by myself, lest a mushroom cloud result... cue visuals of Gos, who lives down the hill from me, finding a smouldering ZX9 frame sticking out of his back lawn...

Anything else I would say "hammer and chainsaw".... but you are talking about highly explosive, and also poisonous substances here...... I would recommend going to an expert.....
The world is round. It has no point.

Shouldnt be too hard to take the tank out. Ring one of the LPG guys who do re-certs ask them what needs to be disconnected before removing it.

My tank was restamped recently. Cost about 170 ?? i imagine it wouldnt cost much to pay someone to remove the tank, do the rest yourself

I kinda like the mushroom cloud option.

Make sure you get it on film and stick it on You Tube... if you're in any kind of state to do that after the tank removal.

In the middle of the filler neck theresa phillips head screw and if you pull that out the tank will dump its contents.

Drive it till its empty first though.

After that theres a few solenoids and a gas converter to deal with and maybe the bell thing that sits inside the airfilter.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?
