If I could get a Z1000 for this price, or cheaper, then maybe it'd have the edge over the Suzuki, as the equipment level is higher and it IS a Kawasaki.

Looks-wise I actually prefer the smaller Z, I don't particularly like the twin twin exhausts on the Z1000. However the big Z has all the nice bits.

Alas I couldn't find a dealer who had one in stock. Elliot Bothers in Bendigo don't have one, Race Replica in Brooklyn do, but it's a demonstrator, and it's still dearer than the pictured. I can't find anyone with a Z750. I can't be arsed riding two or more hours to just look .

Steve at Race Rep loves Cosways at the moment as they just keep pushing business his way. Its a petty Leon isnt still at Cosways, he is a top bloke. If you want a suzuki go see Brian at raceway suzuki 93510055 tell him Paul Williams sent ya.. Good luck.

mate..go buy urself a seat for a z...trim it...then take it with u when u go to test rie..just like u would take a booster seat/phone book if u went to test drive a new car!!

seriously mate vtwins are awesome, but a different kettle of fish, and HUGE fuel users (u commute still??) i use to get 190km out of 19L...i now get abt 230 or so on the blade , and thats riding harder than i ever did on the vtr... the twin is weird to get use to.

then u got the whole "spewzuki" thing..i hate em...lol..... come over here for a w/e and we can take ya to boltons...they ussually pretty good...

oh and while im here, is it worth meeting one of the vic crew who has a z and sit on it for a few min??

Z1000 & CB900 Hornet

Post by Ratmick »

Been up to Peter Stevens again for another perve. The SV1000 is gone (they have others, but they are still in the crate) but I did sit on a second-hand Z1000. Surprisingly I can touch the ground on both sides at once, although not with a great deal of contact area. It does seem do-able without drastic surgery like Colette's ZX-6R. Woo hoo!

I happened to run into Con, the guy who sold me both the GPX and the ZZR. He took me down into the Honda section and sat me on a CB900 Hornet. Very nice, and a bloody good price atm, same as the SV1000. I can even touch the ground a bit better than the Z1000. Seat seems a bit comfier in stock form as well.

So, add another to the contenders list, and put it above the SV 8).

Prolly the hornet is a really good bike, but i really think the styling looks pretty dated.

if you were thinking sv still, i'd suggest the s series, i.e. sv1000s as per this pic.

Click above for full res pic.

But seriously, a Z750-z1k sounds like a nice option, was keen on them, but no way i could afford either of them so went the "older 900" route.

Good luck with your choice

Nice looking bike, I sat on one at Peter Stevens. If I was going to shell out the extra for the half-fairing I'd go a Z1000 anyway. The only thing it has got over the Kawasaki in the naked form is that it's cheaper.

I'd like to also draw your attention to the latest FZ1...

If Kawasaki didn't exist i'd be crawling over one of these...

If you got the money then the Italian Nakeds maybe something to look at?

MV Augusta - 910 Brutale
Aprilia Tuono R
Benelli TNT

But out of your list go one of the Zed's IMO
