did you get a picture with the fine?
if so if there is any other vehicles in the picture you might be able to get out of it.
i know people were using that argument in NSW, not sure if it would work in Vic.
that sure is harsh though - 105 in a 100....
you only need to blink and your speed will jump 5 kph.

Its a load of frogshit, thats what it is. Fight it all the way. There is a bloke in Melbourne who succesfully fought a similiar speeding fine, on the basis that the manufacturer of his vehicle advised of a 5% error in speedometer readings, and that, combined with incorrectly-sized tyres, could result in a speedo error of up to 8%.
This makes the 5% *tolerance* laughable. If you do a Google search for speeding fines, you should find his website - one of the other members may already know about it ??? This story was on the box only a couple of weeks ago.
Don't accept this fine. It has *nothing* to do with safety whatsoever. Its just crap

I have to agree, you should definitely send a letter, 5k's is negligable IMO, gee.. they must have lowered the standards for issueing these tickets, typical of their greed for revenue.

ok..i thought AS meant it could be up to 10% wrong and pass the test to be honest...
and as said here abt 12 times..i got 2 fines riding to the gp a few yrs back,....
64 in 60 zone
65 in 60 zone
BOTH had 6 bikes in pic, and both i ended up paying- it was cheaper than the flight to Vic to contest...

i thought there was a 10% allowance for instument error.
i am pretty sure it was on another thread on here within the last 6 months and someone put up a weblink to the rules regarding faulty speedometer allowances for sppedig fines...
i will try and have a look and see if i can find it. unless someone else remembers....
by the way, i think its absolute bullshit about the fine!!!!

No, you are dead right ! and that is the problem. Its farcical to have a 10% standard for car manufacturers, and then a 5% tolerance enforced by the lawNeka79 wrote:..i thought AS meant it could be up to 10% wrong and pass the test to be honest......

this issue pisses me off so much, and its been 12 years since I got done at Tootgarook in the middle of Xmas holidays for 64 in a 60, in the middle of peak season holiday traffic

that was probably the same bloke I saw - he fought the Law and He won, and has set up a website to assist other motorists, who also feel like they have been bunted up the shitter by this ridiculous situation.Neka79 wrote:....there was an old coot on ACA or TT the other month fighting it..mind u he had a good clean record (i dont)...but its still makes no sense....the rules need to be clarified...

I just can't recall the name of his website...He was a clever old bastard.
i dont understand (he voiced this) how a federal requirement can allow for 10% but a state govt can fine for only 5%...

Yep about 50 percent of vics have had this sort of fine maybe more, yeah it sucks.Livivng in sydney its probably more of a pain to fight it as you would have to appear and at least have a gps test on your speedo and a clean record to get out of it
The opposition has said it will reinstate 10% tollerance back but its probably bullshit and they probably wont win anyway
And yes BRACKS is a PRICK

I have my third ticket of less than 8km over the speed limit in 1 year......
I am losing my license 1 point at a time...
If it happens again, its ridiculous.... All you need is for some truck to start indicating into your lane while you have some V8 sitting right on your tail, you get out of the way *flash*...
Im considering asking for a photo of the last one (havent paid it yet) because I remember going through that camera and looking at my speedo, I didnt think I was speeding.....
