Hey daffy I had that footage as well but it turned out to be a fake. BTW ball ammo will make a pretty good mess of you even at extended range, esp when its a half inch in dia, remember it was designed to take out aircraft back in the day.daffy67 wrote:I have some footage ( a short WMV clip) of US Marine snipers taking out afghani snipers at long range. Looks and sounds like the Barrett .50 rifle they are using, also the rounds they are using are not standard ball as what happens to the body is quite 'explosive'.

Awful. On the other hand what would one do if the iraqis army came here in the hundreds of thousands? I know some ppl will be happy to load their weaponry
... but I'm not going political so ZX6R-j1 is the best machine out there...

Remember red dawn, where the russians invaded america and the americans do almost exactly what this guy here is doing....... Perhaps they watched that american movie and are acting it out.....aardvark wrote:There's something wrong with these people.
Dont get me wrong, I am a pacifist and believe things can usually be resolved using diplomatic means.
The world is round. It has no point.
Thats basically it, they've had their country invaded by foreigners. lots of us would act similary if the same happened here.. Its sad though.Stereo wrote:Remember red dawn, where the russians invaded america and the americans do almost exactly what this guy here is doing....... these things happen everyday in the middle east. Its only new to the western world because of the conflicts occuring in that region at the present time.
to these people what they do has been happening for hundreds of years, whether its fighting for cattle, religion, land etc.
it is bad to see, but i've seen and read plenty that makes all this pretty tame.
when i was in grade 2 (in about 1985) my school in egypt was a target of islamic fundamentalists. I grew up in an english speaking town and according to these people, that was not the way to grow up. 2 schools in the same district got hit with something like 300 children & teachers killed that day. All i can remember is my aunty coming to pick me and my brother up from the school. The school was hit later that day. The police have little to no power to stop these people. The fire power that they have is pretty much army style.
Very sad.....

It's very hard to justify pacifism when what you are fighting against is people who are willing to take away any and every basic human right you have. If there is one thing *worth* fighting for it's the basic freedoms and rights that we should all have and deserve.
Pacifism and diplomacy have their applications - and I see diplomacy as the assertive means to resolve conflict, but at some stage you are going to have to deal with the situation *as it is* and if the line has been crossed where people are using force to impose their rule, or restrict others freedoms against their will, then something must be done that is more than just words.
I'm not saying flat out attacking anything and everything in site in order to get 'what you want', but you have to put in place measures and means to resolve things -as they are- and prevent or defend *against* attacks on the rights that people have or should have.
pacifism -alone- as a principle will not resolve conflict.

why do you say that Jase ? They are only reporting on whats happening, I guess you could say that this may encourage insurgents, but I don't think the insurgents need any encouragment from journo's to do this stuff...aardvark wrote:...I didn't say which people! If it wasn't the SMH, it would be Fox, or CNN, or someone else. It would still be happening if it wasn't on the news.......
just 2c worth, glad its not happening in Oz, and we can ride our bikes in peace, without being shot at
