Neilp The Government did not close down Darlington Park , the death of the owner did! Sure I might have a whinge if I get busted speeding, but hey do the crime do the time. Neil
No offence meant Neil but when the Government/Council stopped me riding down 700k to go to trackies at Darlington the owner was still alive.
We had a campaign through Herb Elliot running for GC Council (and Bernie Hatton) but that failed. I also remember signing a petition. If the owner died later it was news to me (condolences to family), maybe the noise got to him  My point was they shut down tracks and are not about to make anymore (Lakeside maybe) but ramp up the tickets as well. What next get rid of the Telecom phone boxes and sell mobiles

I am currently sans licence because I AM doing the time.
It was accumulation of points (car inlcuded) and I like MOST coppers too.
Espec the ones that USE discretionary powers and knock that Tuesday arv blast down to a reasonable rate...
Shit of a job but someone has to do it and I would imagine they are as bemused by the whole revenue thing as us. I dont imagine they become a copper to sell tickets to the ball.
BUT this IS harrassment, and yeah there is an idiot element (me included sometimes) but Barrabob ???? Lets get real eh?
Ppl die because they hit solid objects, speed is a factor, but they die because they hit solid objects. They sat up the Mountain and were proper C*s, they harrassed riders, no one else. The PR damage is done and holding a sizzle is unlikely to make everyone feel good.

Personally I think Nebo/Glorious is highly overated anyway.
Maybe if ppl went more than a 100k from their favourite coffee shoppe  If I hear they are blitzin the coast I head inland.
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

Well I would go if i could but have children duties this weekend and no car so its a stay at home wekend.

yeh i have met a few of the superman models in my time but also i think i was working at the same time they where busiest enforceing being weekends and afterhours.

Would be a good excuse just to go for a ride up there which i havn't done for a good 12 months.

Rider saftey they could get some track days happening and darlington park was ideal, if you didnt use your head around that place you would be the proud owner of a banana shaped bike quick smart.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Call me cynical, but this meeting seemed to me to be a 'let's advertise morgan and wackers q ride' and very little else day. Might be because we turned up in the last hour but it wasn't too enlightening. Signed a petition against motorcycle learners permits being available only after having held a car licence for a year. Took survey by Queensland Transport, just after lady from QT let me know of her concern of speeding, citing the accident in NSW last week in which 4 young people were killed. She doesn't ride either. Found her quite patronising. I don't think she believed me when I answered 30-40 hours on the part of the survey that asks how many hours you ride a week. :o
Police had a display with photos of two fatal accidents, one of which was on Mt Nebo/Glorious, of a guy from NSW who may not have known the road. Died on his GSXR1000. Really strange coz the skids were WAY on the other side of the road. Speed was cited but my guess would be that he was overtaking to be in that situation. Spoke to policeman re photos. He doesn't ride. Nice bloke. Seemed surprised when I enlightened him on a few facts re q ride and how it came about. Kinda funny when you are standing beside a morgan and wacker tent.
Sat on wackers street rod. Kinda OK for a harley. Funny how it had a broken brake lever. Fell over somewhere previous.
Had a sticky at three police ST1100s. All three were different. One had a camera set up on the front of it discreetly.
Day left me cold. Maybe something else happened earlier that was of some benefit to people up there. It leaves me thinking three things. Some people see motorcycling as an method to promote their business at every opportunity, queensland transport have no idea about motorcycling and its management in queensland and the police though well intentioned have only enforcement to work with. :? Doesn't paint much of a picture for the future if you ask me. Mt Glorious and Nebo area has very challenging roads. Guess that isn't going to change. I don't like Glorious but I do like Nebo and Splityard Ck. Glorious has crap everywhere on the road and the road surface isn't too flash either. Samford section is somewhere in between too. Not surprising lotsa people come off in these areas.
Had fun however coming down Nebo. First time on the CB400. All it needs is an engine. Great handler but no go relatively. I'd be faster through Nebo on he CB than the ZZR though.
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.

It's a shame that most of these *Meet Your Friendly Police Officer* occassions aimed at the motorcycle riding fraternity are staffed by officers that no next to nothing about riding motorcycles other than the statistics.

Has anyone stopped to ask these enforcers of the law why they think that people ride? My bet is no.

If they did, I'd like to think that road rules, the number of race tracks and law enforcement would be adjusted for those with this particular blood type.

I'm not saying that road rules would be ignored, but more would be done to understand why riders customise their bikes and what makes them go back and forth on one section of road, just to take a specific corner over and over again.

My beef is not with the coppers - most of them are just doing the task that is assigned to them - no matter how bitter the taste.

Rather it is with the beaurocrats who seem to have no idea about what is actually happening out there and turn to the wrong sources for their information.

I don't ride any of the 'hot spots' any more although I do ride every day. I've never felt targetted but I do feel ignored. And possibly a bit misunderstood.

I suppose there is nothing I can do about this other than choose not to mix with the unbelievers.

I suppose that's why I'm a member of forum sites like KSRC...
