Where did you hear that? It is still advertised on the Qld Transport website.

I was informed by the president of MRAQ and I also rang up the Senior Advisor at QLD Transport at 9:05am today(24th March).
I was told(over the phone) that it will be postpone to late April.

Their website will be updated shortly.

I betcha they will be pork sausages as well mate ......

I guess all I can add is that we sure don't have anything like the level of *harrasment* that you guys are currently copping up in Qld........even though the death toll down here last year was relatively *big* for biker deaths.......

If you don't want to participate in the whole thing heh no worries, I guess the PR Dept in QPol thinks its a *great* idea.........they have *no* idea of the level of animosity that exists in some sections of the biker community towards them..........(which is strange, considering the climate..... :? )

Believe it or not, I've never experienced the harrassment. But, then, I strictly avoid most of the "known" roads, and when on them, I certainly don't try to break the lap record.

I would have to say Ive never experiened any harrassment from them either. I must be riding in all the wrong places.. But when I have been pulled up by the police, it was through my own fault for speeding and they have always treated me well and with respect. They usually wanna have a yarn about the bike and have always drop my fine down to the 15kph, instead of the 30kph and over i was actually doing.
But lets not forget, that there are the riders out there being absolute dickheads on our roads, and from the police point of view, this is what there trying to target.
In 4 weekends that I went riding through Mt Tambo and springbrook recently, there was a rider down everytime, through mostly the riders own fault of trying to break the lap record. One rider was clocked at 120kph (50km speed limit) riding through Tambo village on a Sunday when its usually at its busiest time.
So it might be a waste of police time and taxpayers money, but at least there trying. If they didnt do it, Im sure there would be another thread on here, whinging about how there doing nothing.
We are not the only riders on the road.
Cheers Sean

That's just it, Sean.

Another thing to ponder is that up 'till now I've always kept my bikes stock. Stock exhaust, stock fender. The current one is (or will be) stock looking.

The problem seems to be that the police can't or (perhaps) don't want to differentiate between those who are riding safely and those who are a danger. The result is that everyone riding something that looks racy or modded gets attention.

If the police can't figure out who's being an idiot, then they're in the wrong line of work.

If they couldn't be bothered, they need a kick where it hurts the most.

If they're pulling people up legitimately, then they're doing their job and should be commended.

It all comes down to people being RESPONSIBLE for their own actions, do the crime and get caught do the time, simple.

Seems that the same thing is going on at Glorious this weekend. Who's going? (copied from another site)

Rider Safety on the agenda at Mt Glorious

Motorcycle riders can have their say on road safety at a Rider Survivor
event at Maiala Rainforest Teahouse and Restaurant, Mt Glorious on Sunday,
29 October 2006.

Rider Survivor is an initiative of Queensland Transport in association
with the Queensland Police Service and the Centre for Accident Research
and Road Safety ? Queensland (CARRS-Q) and aims to increase awareness of
road safety issues associated with motorbike riding in the area.

The Rider Survivor event supports the road safety initiative "Ride and
Drive the mountain - it's glorious" day and there will be static displays
and information for riders along with a DVD showing safety awareness and
information on hazard perception, braking distances and scanning
techniques.

Accident investigation and treatment personnel will also profile what
happens in the event of a serious crash.

Participants will be able to have their say on motorcycle road safety
through a survey which will provide Queensland Transport with some insight
into how to better address road safety for motorcycle riders. Those
completing the survey will go into a draw to win motorcycle safety gear
from Morgan and Wacker.

Come for a ride and have your say on motorcycle safety in a welcoming
environment.

When: Sunday, 29 October 2006 @ 9am til 2pm

Where: Maiala Rainforest Teahouse and Restaurant
1850 Mt Glorious Road, Mt Glorious

For more information on this event please contact Michelle Robke on (07)

1. Government shuts down Darlington Park, Norwell and try to close the rest too. Ppl that moved in AFTER the track was there for years complained about the noise!!!
2. Police turn into arseholes due to Government working out that the revenue was good !
Well f*cken DURRR guys, take away our tracks
Most of the cops I have met are decent, we have some young supermen but you get good and bad in every bunch.
BUT they do have discresionary powers, just if they are dumb and have chips on their shoulders they turn into "I am da law" pigs.
The govenrments current "Bikes are bad, mmmmnnnnOK' is BS, I kow it, you know it, the cops know it too...
F*ck them and their "We f*cked up but we are nice guys really".
You abused us and lost our respect for it (witness Ponti) F*CK OFF !!!
I say go up in your best Nightrider gear and mono past at 200k

Pics or it didnt happen
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

Well first of all lets get our facts right here. The Government did not close down Darlington Park, the death of the owner did!
Sure there are track closures happening and I am not happy about it.
But be thankful, yes thankful that some people are still community minded enough to still become coppers. Sure I might have a whinge if I get busted speeding, but hey do the crime do the time. Dont think I would last long out there on a bike if it was a free for all come to think of it neither would you!
End of rant.

When you think about this RG maybe just maybe they are being smart. Nobody bothers to turn up Oh well the community of riders dont care enough about what is happening with the campain of discrimination so they get no feedback from riders etc and feel free to continue their campain. I can see the headlines now "Motorcycling community cant be bothered to attend saftey campain yet still continue to die on our roads" Might be me just being cynical though.

I am going to make the effort to go on Sunday, anyone want to meet up at the Gap Mobil say 8:30ish?
