Ideal fuel for 2005 GPX250?
Hello All,
I don't want to open a can of worms with this, but what would be the best fuel to put into an 05 GPX250?
All reports are that Optimax/V-Power is to be avoided.
What about the Shell 95RON fuel?
I recently filled up with Caltex 98RON - as all reports I have read recommend this fuel highly - but in a carby bike is it worth just sticking to 91RON?
Thanks,
Scott

i did a cost / benefit test of ULP vs PULP on my old 450, i found that using ULP i got 20km/l and using PULP i got 22.5km/l on average (running three tanks of each, didnt matter what style of riding commuting/scratching/whatever it was always repeatable).
Given that i had a 12Litre tank and usually filled up at 200km regardless of if i'd hit reserve or not (i found it better than relying on hitting reserve) and at the time fuel was 108c/l for ULP and 112 for PULP i worked out that i was saving a dollar per tank by running PULP as i was using about 11% less fuel.
Running wise though, i did notice that the bike was a little smoother with the PULP, but thats not saying that the bike was in any way shape or form shit on ULP.
n.b. these results were done on a 19y/o twin cyl bike i owned 2-3 years ago and in an average state of tune, it doesn't mean that you'll neseccarily get the same results i did.

i bet it would be harder to start with deisel!!Tenoq wrote:91RON.
Unless you've had the bike retuned for premium fuels, you'll get no benefit from using them, and may actually have more problems. My bike became hard to start and was prone to stalling when cold with premium fuels (GPX250).
