Looks

Post by briffa »

I think the Z's have it all over the SV in the looks department.
i think the suzuki looks dated and always will.
Anyway I would never go bat for the other team (suzuki)

Hi Tanya, I'm 165cm. I think it would need a makeover along the line of Colette's bike. The SV would get by with a seat shave.

For anyone else recommending the 9, yes it's a great bike, but you may notice the contenders are all nakeds. And I'm after a new bike.

I completely agree..... The current SV looks so "Meh"..... The older models were way cooler.... not the roundy one.... they squary one....

The Z's have style...

Oh yeah, the Commuter that RR have is very low to the ground..... I was sitting on it with flat feet, knees bent quite a lot.... Lower than the average ZZR actually....

Oh, and YES the do have at least 2 Z's sitting in the shop at the moment... But call them first if you are heading over there to check them out because every time I go in there they have different stock...

The guys there are really friendly I found, and head mechanic dave is great to chat to.....

I have been very happy with their service so far.... yes, they did make a mistake/error during my major service..... (headgasket was slightly askew) but they took ownership of the problem, and repaired it at their cost and time etc.... no bitching, no trying to get out of it.... The way I see it, every mechanic makes mistakes from time to time.... that is to be expected, it is how they deal with it that matters....

I had exactly the same short list of bikes when i was after a new bike 18 months ago.
I was new back to riding after a few years off so i didnt want to go straight for a full on sports bike (zx10/6 etc)

i ruled out the z1000 as at that time it was $3500 more than the Z750.
in the end i went the Z750 and was really happy with it.

In hindsight i wish i had of bought the Z1000 cause i could of used the extra power and i think its a little bit cooler than the 750 :-)

The Z has some sort of screen on it - the SV has just the headlight which doesnt deflect any wind at all. most SV owners go out and buy a screen for them (which looks gay). The Z screen does actually deflect "some" wind with its standard screen. ie its much better then a real naked bike.
The front end on the SV (naked ones anyway) looks fairly old fashioned to me as well.

the SV might possibly be a more comfortable ride as the seat on the 750 was a little hard (not been on the z1000 long enought to tell).

I guess in the end for me i just liked the look of the Z better than the SV. I was new back to riding so any performance differences were not going to be so obvious to me at that time.

i reckon go ride them all and then buy yourself a Zed.

Go the Z1000, great reports and a good looker... the Z750 is just going to leave you wanting more and is specced down to a price point.

Love the Suzuki on paper ... apparently a GREAT motor and is bought by lotsa companies and used in eveything. Every write up I have read gives the TL a big tick and always uses the term underrated.

Real shame to me that it is so goddam ugly. Great value tho...

Umm, no .

Being really short negates most attempts to test-ride anything. I could (theoretically) test ride the SV, but I wouldn't like to take it out on Elizabeth Street for its first run.

The Zs would be out of the question straight out of the crate, although I'd get a good idea of fit sitting on it in the shop. It'd have to be operated on before I'd go anywhere on one...bit of a shit really.

I would go with the Z1000 looks the meanest especially in black and once those wind chimes are taken of and replaced with a proper exhaust...
