Does anyone know if I can put ZX7 front fairings on my L model ZXR without too much fabrication? Specifically the top/bikini to side/lower fairing junction or even the whole front fairing assembly.

i had a J and slapped ZX7R farings on it. it was by no means a perfect fit, but it DID go on with a little pursuasion. the frame size/shape and mounting points are extremely similar, they're really not out by much. with a little imagination, it should be fairly easy i think...

We had thought about doing it as well to the better halfs bike, but in the end decided to do something different (after all it would just look like a standard ZX7R if we did that).
Will be ordering Racers Edge raceglass for it in the next few days, which we can then cut to fit whatever headlight we want (as long as it has a similar shape/bend to the bodywork obviously). Then its just a matter of bending/rewelding the headlight bracket to hold the new headlight in the correct position. Sounds easy enough...

Doing it this way has a few advantages, firstly everything bar the headlight bracket is going to fit exactly as standard. It also retains the classic look of the fairings yet it will make it look at least 10 years younger compared to the big ugly round standard lights. And lastly... no one is going to have a bloody clue what the bike is, especially once we put a new rear end on it (doing a subframe swap!).
Trial fitting a ZXR250C headlight to see how much the brackets will need to be bent... (the answer was a hell of a lot

This was one of the first mods I did to my ZXR about 8 years ago. It wasn't to hard as it's mostly cutting away from the front fairing to get the two to match up. From memory the scalop at the top where the two meet required a bit of a tweek to get them to line up perfectly.Specifically the top/bikini to side/lower fairing junction
