At the MRAA Special General Meeting held on 30 September 2006, a motion was passed directing Damien Codognotto to sign and publish a statement apologising for a statement he had made about another member and which was found to be untrue, something Damien refused to do.
After the meeting was over Damien and DJ McCarthy were involved in a brief physical altercation and had to be pulled apart. Police were subsequently called, talked to those involved and are continuing investigation of the matter.
Damien is already under suspension regarding the 'statement' matter and DJ has stood down from the Board which awaits the results of the police investigation before considering further action.
Before the incident, DJ had only limited use of his right arm and hand due to a recent motorcycle accident and has subsequently received medical treatment for injuries to his neck and throat. His wife Rose was pushed to the ground when she tried to break up the fracas and had treatment for cuts and bruising to her arm.
There have been a number of emails and other stories circulated by Damien and other parties which are false and the Board considers to be defamatory.
Board members and their families have received threatening telephone calls which are being investigated by the authorities.
The Members voted, with a significant majority, regarding what is required of Damien, and the Board is firm in its commitment to see that the directives by the Members are fulfilled, despite the current campaign of intimidation and slander.

I kind of agree and kind of disagree Mr Smith, reality is it's probably good that it's out there for the world to see but then again it should be the stuff that's privy to financial members as they're the ones most affected by it.Smitty wrote:I have been following 'the saga' on the MRAA site
so thanks SenNey
better to post what happened ...than let the rumours continue
cheers
We are also only hearing one side of the coin here, even thugh I know the history behind it all, still plenty here that don't.
For those knockers of the org, it's simple, would you rather they layed down and took it up the arse from the pollies that don't care a fuck about motoryclists??
If you think you can do a better job than the current the offer is always there to stand up and put your money and time in rather than sit back and do fuck all and hope things work out for ya...
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

I'm not biting here, but, you volunteered, so why have a song and dance about it, if you dont wanna do it, or dont think you get enough recognition.. then quit?SenNey wrote:mick_dundee wrote:

Well. why?Benno wrote:And they wonder why people dont think highly of the MRAA...
Is it because they keep having these internal bitchfights?
Is it because they keep airing said bitchfights in public... "to stop rumours"?
Is it because they haven't managed to have any influence on government roads and traffic policy since... well... forever?

Im only 1 motorcyclist, i don't do it just for me, I do it for other motorcyclists.
Yes everyone is replaceable in a work situation, try finding one who is prepared to give up there free time to help out on a volunteer basis...
Very few people put there hand up.
I/We/The board do it to benifit MOTORCYCLIST as a whole.
I agree.Duane wrote:SenNey wrote:One board member and it's wasn't a brawl.
