Re: Gotta be Happy with That !!....
I watched it as well (procrastinating over an assignment), and we both thought the same thing. Any of the movies with a decent bit of violence, humour, or action, and Mr Bill "Namby-Pants" Collins was "well I didn't like that at all!" Ch 9 should have culled his comments and someone in with a broader range of cinema reviewing, such asMargaret Pomeranz and/or David Stratton.Gosling1 wrote:
Very happy with that result. Except for Bill "I Truly Am A Dickhead" Collins, he was not happy with the violence and brutality. Whats his problem ? It was fine, and in total context with the storyline. Wake up and smell the roses Bill...![]()

Woulda got my votes! Guess Bill Collins never saw them!So "Stone" never got a look in
Waht about "Running on Empty"....
not arty enough I guess
I watched MM last night after seeing this thread. Great movie. Lotsa actors from Stone too. What I don't get though is the significance of the crows? The one near the start, then later on in the forest where Jess gets a couple of them in her face. What the?

My favourite Aussie movie is "Crackerjack" and I dont care what anyone says....
I dont know why.... but it always makes me feel positive at the end of it...

Other Aussie movies I like
BootMen
Malcolm
RomperStomper
The Castle
The Craic
The Extra
The Wannabees
Chopper
The WogBoy
Running on Empty
I think the list as it was was leaning toward "Epic" movies rather than "Good" movies...
Sure, drama movies based on real life are culturaly significant.... but whether they are the best movies is a different story....
Then again babe the pig came second..... that movie was a ham...

The world is round. It has no point.

Now that was a great movie. Funny it didn't get a mention, as it had Channel Eddie's favourite past son (Graham Kennedy), in one of the best roles he ever played.SocialSecurity wrote:....the odd angry shot....
Malcolm - now that was a classic as well, very special.
Yes agreed, movies are almost as subjective as music, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.Stereo wrote:...I think the list as it was was leaning toward "Epic" movies rather than "Good" movies...
Not sure on that, I think it was just an 'arty' touch from Byron Kennedy, he liked that sort of thing. Perhaps it was a signal about impending death ?bonester wrote:....I watched MM last night after seeing this thread. Great movie. Lotsa actors from Stone too. Perhaps it's the result of an anxiety ??
