[VIC] Western Ring Road - New Speed Cameras
Have just heard that in the next 4 weeks there are speed cameras [allegedly] going up on every bridge on the Ring Worm. Apparently they're like the ones on Geelong Road.
Sounds a bit far fetched to me, but we'll see.
The source has connections with the Sheriffs office.
Anyone else heard anything?

they havent covered the section from the tunnel (the dip, then tunnel) outbound has a camera on the front, and another one in bound on the bridge before the tunnel, but none since then
I dont think they'll put them up on all of them, because if they were going to do that, that woulda done it with geelong, melb, but they havent, just a few each way, more heading closer to geelong's end..
Wouldnt suprise me if they camera up the new hume bridges... but I wouldnt believe that every bridge is going to have them until you see them
From memory, out bound, is boundary road sign, the western highway sign, a bridge about 5-10 kmph after that, calder bridge, the tunnel..
pretty much the same spacing but different bridges going the other way
inbound under the calder bridge is a ripper, they've mounted it inbetween the gap of the two way bridge, can't see it at all

I noticed this morning that they have removed all the old speed cameras from their mounts, but the mounts remain - as does the neatly tied cabling

There are a couple on the bridges but all camera's on the ring road are removed at the moment, and have been for atleast 3+ weeks now.
So to be honest it wouldn't suprise me that they are going to be getting replaced with working ones... Just think of all the money they are losing out on...
they prob need to get them fixed for summer with rising heat, etc causing them to give false readings.

you know it really shits me that they put them on the straights where it is safer and people are inclined to go a little faster, but they refuse to put them on black spots and turns because people usually slow down, why not try catching the idiots that don’t know how to merge and reckless drive in dangerous areas rather than making money at every turn. It’s not like you can’t see the bridges coming anyway. If it’s not about revenue raising 100% of the profits should go it into things the governments don’t usually fund.
