Which alternate to ebay do you use?
Just been reading (again) about the fact that people are getting the royal shits with ebay, the scams on there, the pricehikes and the lack of customer service there. Just been thinking, what's the alternate you usually use, if any?
Google Checkout
Overstock auctions
SwapAce
Oztion
AussieBid
Greys Online
Andale
SecureBidz
Stuff (then again this is more of an online shop, less an auctionhouse.

i reckon ebay has gone to shit as well.
often stuff is as expensive or more expensive than walking into the the shop and buying it. especially bike stuff.
i found some new pilot powers on there recently and he states the RRP from stores and his buy it now price is like $20 less but with his shipping you end up saving $3. woo f**king hoo. its cheaper to walk into MCS wth your rims and buy the tyres off them as they will fit and balance for free.
i think its much harder to get a bargain on there nowadays.
i dont use any auction sites now - i occasionally look at grays and i just use ebay as a reference for what stuff is worth.

The hike in fees, the lack of customer service has caused me to close 2 of my ebay shops.
Scams your always going to get, fake items your always going to get, shit sellers your always going to get.
Iv'e been a full time ebay seller and trader for 5 years aswell as a Trading assistant (sell on commission). Yes this is my job, and how i earn a wage each week. I buy, sell and source for others (and myself of course)
Im appauled at the lack of discussions, consultation and the abuse that sellers cop from ebay it's self.
In the past i have done ebay ads, newspaper article and even appeared as an ebay pop up. Never again.
The only thing ebay has going for it, is the amount of buyers who know ebay exists. There comfortable with it, they know how it works. they wont move in a hurry, if they do they always come back.
I will say as a power seller you do get phone support.
I don't use any other sites, but i have drive repeat customers to my websites to buy, no fees.

I've had a fair bit off ebay, not used any others. I think scammers will use any and all means necessary and will not restrict themselves to one auction forum.
I've only ever had 1 real problem with e-bay, and ebay we're like, "yeah, whatever. Sort it out with the seller." Fortunately the seller was also like "yeah, whatever", and the problem was sorted.

ive only ever really had two probs, one was caused by my not insisting on registered post and the item went walkies (so he claims). i refunded his money as i figured it wasnt worth the grief (already had some good feedback so wasnt going to ditch the ID just yet).
Second was with that guy buying my motorbike, he did contact me.... until his missus saw the bike, then he was full of 100001 excuses, lazy non pants wearing pussy. lodged a dispute with ebay, got my $50 sometime about 2-3 weeks after the fact.

I've never used any of those other sites, so thought I'd check them out.
Other than Grays, what a load of crap!!
If I didn't know better, I'd say it looks like all the stay at home Mums (and there's nothing wrong with being a stay at home Mum), whip together crappy football coloured dolls, blankets and fridge magnets and stick their shit on those auction sites.
Ebay might have its problems, but at least they occassionaly have stuff I'd want to buy!

fugged if i know how, but contact the banks/super agencies fraud department and give all proof that you've got to back this up. This includes any dealings with anyone that may be involved.
Also if its an unknown, get them to check their pc's over for all kindsa nasties, who knows wtf has been put on their pc if thats the case.

If you're paranoid and want to use online shopping the smart option is to do the following.
Open a savings account with Visa debit. Then only transer the funds accross as you require them... You can't take money that isn't there...
If you open it with your existing bank than fnds transfers should be quicker and phone banking instant. Sarah does phone transfers sometimes and then uses her card so it def works in her case it's St George.
If it wasn't online store then it could be pc hacked and used netbanking. In which case well you are prob better off using a token for security reasons when logging in each time.
