Beware old gold Jag in Deer Parl/Caroline springs area

Post by Robsalvv »

Copied from Netriders - happened yesterday.
Chairman wrote: Just a belated "heads-up"

On the way home from the Thursday Mystery Ride, I met two other riders on the Ring Road. We all exited together at the Western Highway, and were at the front of the queue, waiting for the green light.

Lights change, we turn left, line abreast across the 3 lanes and giving it stick. I'm in the centre lane when, suddenly a gold Jaguar is hard on the heels of the rider to my left.

Eyeballing me, and unhappy that we're slowing him down, he tries to overtake on the grass/gravel road edge. His mirror is level with the rider when he's confronted by armco and a driveway. So he swings back, about 6 inches off the rider's rear wheel.

Now he moves further right and tries to lanesplit between us - his bonnet is level with me when the road bends a little and there's no easy line between us so he backs off, again sitting right behind the left rider. I signal the rider, he checks his mirrors and opens the taps to get some space.

The Jag chases him, swerving all over the road as he tries, I think, to get alongside and push the rider into the gutter. Through Deer Park to Station St, still tight on his tail until the rider brakes late into the service lane and the Jag flies past,

I followed the Jag up to the Caroline Springs turnoff, where we part company.

So, if you see an old gold/tan Jag, driven by a bearded clown - give him a wide berth. Serious attitude problem.

It never occured to them to slow down and just let the loopy driver ahead?

Stereo? Did you read the quote??

In the circumstances, it probably wasn't safe to slow down with a driver weaving in and around them. The tailgated rider took off which clearly left ample opportunity for the driver to get into the RH lane and drive past the rider at whatever speed the driver desired. Instead he played cat and mouse with the single rider.

If I'd been part of that possy, I think I would have stuck with following the jag and at the very least got a licence plate...

Anyway, you've been warned.

i woulda thought the sensible thing to do was NOT take up 3 lanes...sure, ur doin the speed limit...but does it not piss u off when sum old bitty is sitting in the right lane, level pegging with sum other bitty trying to slow the flow of traffic??

move over & let him thru...take up less space...

^^^^ +1

it pisses me off royally when somebody is sitting in the right lane on 95kph .... so being the considerate person i am, when im in the right lane and see a vehicle closing in on me in the mirrors and i dont wanna speed up ... then i make it my business not to be in their way, just as i appreciate it when others get out of my way

i was in peak hour traffic in deer park/caro last night, and it aint pretty. must be something funny in the water around there.

Yet again we see why the most sensible approach to riding in traffic is to be the fastest, quickest thing in sight.

Pffft. He's from the city with one of the highest murder rates in the US, and the best he can manage is a couple of cracks in the side of the helmet. I'd've been impressed if they'd emptied an Uzi in his direction...

And, yet again, another reason why you should make a bit of menace of yourself in traffic. Not only are you in any single troglodyte's range for only a short period of time, if you give off the impressions that you're yourself somewhat mental, they'll be less likely to try anything.

Following IK's line of reason is what has kept me alive all this time but unfortunately often suspended from riding.

i use a bit of both...i try to be a bit conscious of whats goin on, and avoid this kinda shit....let em past me etc..but then when u need to get outta there, get out quick.... easiest problem solver tho is not to create the problem..use a bit of courtesy....shit one day it might be re-paid to u..

yep, a nice balance is required.... ie almost comming to a stop when cruising at 60 and a car comes up to a stop sign ahead of you rather quickly with the sun shining in their eyes.... i prepare to stop until i get good eye contact with them

but i cruise around at about 6000rpm most of the time with a cut down pipe, quite menacing
