That's what i figured, but im going to give that guy at lawstop a call or something, it can't make my situation any worse. At the least i'll know exactly where i stand.

hey even the copper said when handing me the ticket that i can appeal and possibly get a provisional license. Anyway that only gave me reason to ask questions & consider consulting a lawyer.

And yeah, i've wasted heaps of time at work working out how to get to work on weekdays/weekends/public holidays to help me get through it if i have to go taht option, doesn't seem that bad, only really about a 20-40 minute increase in transit time each way (comparing it to either the busy/quiet days).

Oh and daisy, if i took the nanna license option, if i was late for work? i call up and let them know and get in as soon as i can without speeding.

My option would be to take the 3mths walking, i wouldn't be able to contain myself

Atleast the cop bumped it down from 6mths it dosen't happen that often. Maybe a good time for that trip to LA (for the 3mths) will take your mind off it, come back and be allowed to ride again

FWIW I not so long ago lost ore than 6 points on my p's and got given the 3 months walking (or riding illegally) or the 12 month jobbie. Went for the 12 months and 2 days later pulled up by Highway patrol doing 72 in a 60 zone evidently (taking off at the lights near home). Got let off with a warning.

6 months or so later heavy Fri night at a pub, Sat going for a ride bin it against the wall in St Andrews, coppers arrive, breathalysed, read something but minimal evidently so escaped that time too.

2 weeks to go and I get pinged by a speed camera, they don't give warnings, bumped that off on a mate so managed 12 months with some luck and a mate's help, nt fuggin easy though....

My situ is a lot different to yours, given you're 30k over I reckokn you're SOL but as you say, no harm calling a lawyer, he can't hurt.

Well i emailed Mark@ Lawstop asking a general question outlining the above, i might be lucky and get a reply today from him (higher chance than calling his office on a Saturday). But yeah, if you eat up all of your points, your given the option of the good behaviour, however im not sure if its mandatory 3 months walking, or 3 months walking or 12 months with one point.

If i can take the latter, im not going to take any chances and drive and ride like a grandma, and the only time the bike would come out is if i took it to superbike school or just went for a sedate cruise thru the natio, etc..

But yeah your right Cath, if i score the probationary no putty rides with you lot for a while. and something just occured to me, shit, its coming up to summer, best riding weather out thre, f*(#&*k.

Mate, go the probation, Ive done it before its no dramas if you just drive sensibly. Wherever you think there may be a cop you just need to really slow down to the limit no excuses for 12 months. When you think about it 12 months aint that long.

As for riding the twisties, you rarely get done in the twisties its always in a 60 or 80 zone on a flat obvious piece of road that they get ya, where they can set up their car etc. You rarely see a radar in the twisties, its usually when the road flattens out at the end of the twisties.

aye, the flat roads inbetween are the bits i was thinking of. But sometimes just keeping at the posted limit (say 80) when the recommended speed is much lower (say 25) can be a heap of fun

oh and how'd you score the probation period hoffy? erosion of points? or did you do it in one go like i did?

Man have a look at Barrabob's predicament before you make a decision. Here he is on this 12 month probation period, and gets done for a freaking fenderectemy, which carries a single fucking point with it.

You can lose that single point even doing everything you can to stay legal, they set it up this way. Remember in a lot of cases they don't care what your intentions were, whether you were doing the right thing or not, they just want to score their own points by taking away yours.

I did the 3 month thing back in my teens, it sucked, but then at the end of it I had a normal licence again.

I have had a really good run lately with regards to losing points. In saying that I hope I don't get pinged riding to the track tomorrow or have a camera fine turn up in the mail. But basically I ride/drive to suit conditions, and this often means going faster than the law recommends, but if I see anything that looks like cops etc., I slow down. This means I slow down a lot, and 90% of the time it turns out I didn't have to, but this has so far kept me both on the road AND on time for work etc. But at the end of the day anyone can get unlucky....

Yeah I know man, and that is kinda my point. I ride as described above, but I don't for one second think that you can always get away with it. This means that I accept the fact that I may lose my licence. But what I am getting at is even when you then turn around and ride like a grandma for a year, you can still get done on something totally ridiculous and lose your licence again right there and then.

damn dude, that really bites arse.

I have a traffic history that reflects my sympathy for your plight and all wise philosphical comments aside, that really just sucks.

We try to pick our time and place and then one day we just get pinched. The only consolation I have ever taken is "at least they didnt get me the other day when I...."

Mate, if your a half reasonable sort of bloke the 12 months will be over before you know it. From my own experience a ticket is worth about six months of slowed down extra caution anyway.

Mark might be a bit slow to reply I suspect ... he stopped halfway to PI, spent a day in hospital and was eventually collected by hiw wife with trailer in tow, so he may have a few days off relaxing.

I was young and reckless, I had a 3.0L turbo Supra and got done on mona vale road at, lets say, alot. The cop told me about the probation, so I took it as I worked in Brookvale and lived at Rouse Hill. I had no option. Just tick the days and months off a calender to remind yourself that your on probation, its not hard to do one month at a time.

I get booked usually every two years, so a 12 month gamble is worth it.

Well the last time i got nabbed before this was in Feb last year. and i'll happily keep ticking off the days if it encourages me to, shall we say, behave.

r.e. Mark, shit that's not exactly good. It's a pretty good way of messing up your schedule. If i dont hear back from him by mid next week then i'll have to ask around a bit.

I would take the 3 month walking. If it is possible, ask around for a lift to and from work at your workplace.
