From memory, the sign at the Orbost end of the Bonang says "<twisty road> Next 90km". The 40km-of-dirt clue tells me the sign in the pic might be on the Barry Way, between Jindabyne and Buchan.

jeez, i was close

there was a fair dirt section between the highway and the start of the twisties, doubt it was that long but i was too busy being yelled at when i travelled that way (i had some sore kidneys after that ride)

i think sphincter puckering would be an apt description of that road. heavily ribbed dirt road leading to an extremely long, narrow and tight twisties ride that is prone to having dirt strewn all over it. i had a blast but a certain pillion of mine decided that she liked life too much to let me have any real fun on that road
