ZZR250 suspension question

ZZR250 suspension question
is it supposed to have really tight suspension? or can it be modified ? cos the roads up near my place are shocking.. and i start bouncing around everywhere... any clues??

I had suspension like a bloody marshmallow on my zzr250, and the only way I could adjust it was to stack spacers in the front forks to preload the spring, then replace the fork oil with a heavier oil... which won't help you in the slightest
I do have 2 suggestions though, 1 is to chat to your mechanic about replacing the fork oil for something lighter, the second is to relax a little... if your legs and arms are stiff, any bumps and grinds will seem to be more harsh than they really are

That said, fork oil is a service item, and I'll bet a Ti full system against a length of roof guttering that the forks on FA's bike haven't been apart since some Japanese bloke in Kawasaki coveralls put them together sometime in 1991...Benno wrote:The general rule with 250's, is try not to spend too much money on them

So, fresh fork oil and, possibly, the rear shock out of a crashed newer ZZ-R250, and the thing should handle like good(er)'un.

Mine's soft, but has been checked at Suspension school and by a HART trainer and is supposedly fine for me. Mind you, I'm a tad bit heavier than Fallen Angel
I've also kept my ZZR way past the time I could (legally) upgrade to a 600. If you're going to upgrade as soon as you are able, dont spend the money. If, like me, you're happy with the 250 then have the forks done. The BF got his hoonda done at Penrith, cost about $300 and improved the handling.

I used to have a handle on Life,
but it fell off.

if your suspension is too bouncy , it is most likely due to the fact it is working too quickly
as suggested by IK the chance of the fork oil having been replaced in it life is near zero
a change of the oil to 15W and then check your suspension sags and adding a few 20c pieces to each forkleg to get the sags right and the bike will handle completly different
if you can do this yourself it will cost you about $15 in oil

like i said, with the GPX250 you can use the ex500 rear suspension which has adjustable pre-load. APPARENTLY its a direct fit and many many many people have done it, but there is like a mm or 2 of mismatch on a ZZR.. you could look into it seeing as its like a 30 dollar second hand part *if your lucky*
