Yup, I saw the article on motorcycledaily.com, and I say crap. In the low front 3/4 shot (black bike) doing the rounds you can see the front of the tank wrapping around the section of frame immediately behind the steering head just like on the cirrent bike with its steel-tube spine frame.aardvark wrote:Rumour doing the rounds and being reported by some sites is that it is aluminum and similar to the monocoque design Kawasaki has used on other recent models like the ZX-14.I-K wrote:There could quite easily be the same old steel-tube spine frame hiding under there. If they've given it a proper frame, then it'll slay all comers on the spec sheet as well as the road.
In the side-on shot (orange bike), it's obvious that the tank is a full saddle-type, dropping right down to the engine; no room for anything other than a spine frame under that.
Further, in the same shot, note the component running along the throttle bodies, from the silver trim panel at the back of the engine to the blocky-looking black thing at the side of the head?
I'm going to reach deep into my rectum and pull out a prediction that the frame, rather than an aluminium monocoque from the 12/14, is a steel spine braced with lateral members, like the ER-6 (or Harris Magnum, if you want to go swirling down the time tunnel).
