trip to Germany

Post by Burky »

Next week i am doing a working trip to Germany(Cologne) and was thinking of getting leathers over there and bringing them back. But 2 things have occured to me  1) can't find any shops on the net for locations. Does anybody know of any links? 2)Euro to aus conversion rate, would it be worth while? i don't know if buying them over there would be cheaper eg. italian leathers out of Europe, you know what i mean. I even looked over the members listing and you guessed it no members in Germany. Does any body ride in Germany?? :?

leathers in europe will be cheaper.
check out ebay for examples of prices.

gear over there (when converted back to AUD) is cheaper than here. (stuff ive looked at anyway)

the problem is postage can often be a problem or too expensive so if you can walk into a store over there and buy what want you should be making a hell of a savings compared to here.

have a good time there.

Check the Hein Gericke site.
We went to Germany in 2000 and there was plenty of bike shops around and the prices were cheaper... I just hope you speak German, we didn't.

The German speaking is going to be a problem also but that is not a major drama.

Here is a good currency convertor for you

http://pages.ebay.com.au/services/buyan ... erter.html

When i go OS i tend to work it out before hand in lots of $50 and note the other exchange next to it. It will be a little bit out as the $ changes all the time. Buyt closer then having no idea

I write it on card and keep in my wallet, that way it's handy.

I was in cologne 2 months ago but didn't do any shopping. However I will do hell lotta shopping in my trip to italy next month. Anyway one of the biggest bike accessory stores in germany is http://www.louis.de (have branches in every major city) and there is another one called http://www.polo-motorrad.de Basically search in google for the word Motorrad (motorcycle) and you can find some other shops. Oh and there is http://www.fc-moto.de

To answer your other question, we get shafted in Aus and in Turkey when it comes to bike accessories. You will get mad deals in Germany, they have in the shops specials on good brands which really works out cheap. They don't just put crappy accessories that noone wants on sale. Check http://www.xe.com/ucc for the conversion rate.
