re: Michelin PILOT POWER tyres!
Gizmo, my stock tyres are pretty good, as you said, the Pilot Sports. So you really think Pilot Powers are the way to go? The michelin's are much better than the Bridgestone Batlax I had on the ZZR, the wear rate is far slower

the wear rate on the 014/012 is the same as the pliots but the 020 wears slower.

re: Michelin PILOT POWER tyres!
I have a set of 020's on my ZX9 and they were fitted at approx 28k's and I now have 36k on my bike and their still going strong!!
I do the odd ride, prob twice a month and commute 70k's round trip four out of every 8 days.
at this stage I would say I will get at least 12-15k out of the set!!
But I am no demon so cannot comment on hard use.

12-15k.
My bike has just over 5k on it & I'm going for the 3rd front before a trackday at end of month. Front still has tread just costs less for good tyre than new fairings from off tyre.

My BT-020's have just ticked over 12k - though I have to say previous sets haven't lasted quite this long (rear has, but not front). Both ends have another couple of thou or so in them.
This is with regular freeway and OPH runs, one track day, 3 trips to wollombi, one trip on the putty, and another trip down south through the nasho and mac pass. So not a bad innings.
And before you ask no I'm no slouch. Not the fastest out there, but no slouch - so I haven't been especially nice to them.

I am getting powers fitted on Thursday for $370 from Mick at Goodna.
Everyone I have talked to rave that they are the best bike tyre to ever come out.

Yeah, MTM goodna is THE place to go.
Just got some BT014s fitted to my 7R today, $345
Gizmo, ya know Indy-Joe? Hes gotten about 6K out of his pilot powers, reckons he'll get another thou out of them yet. And thats after a couple of trackdays, and mutliple glorious runs. So yeah, fair bit of go in them.

gizmo wrote:If you were happy with the Pilot sports you will be even happier with the Powers, the only negative I have heard about were the greater chance of getting a flat as Michelin had removed some reinforcing from the centre of the tyre?
Yup. Have a feel of a flat one. They're paper thin. Bar that though, they're all the rage.

re: Michelin PILOT POWER tyres!
I've done 3000km on pilot powers, no complaints at all, vastly superior to the stock dunslops fitted on the R6. the d208's would easily spin up out of corners had no confidence in them at all, but the powers hang on well. I'm expecting to get at least 6000km from them....
But I'm a bit easier on tyres than Gizmo
....or maybe his 636 has a bit more juice than my R6

re: Michelin PILOT POWER tyres!
I have read a review saying pilot powers are good but the current crop of sports bikes all run bt014s and the jurnos can't stop praising them. I've got diablos myself and they feel heaps nicer than the d208s the bike had on it when I got it. 2c
