Wavin' or noddin'

When I started riding, just about every other biker would give you a nod or wave as they went past, so I started doin' it myself...

Two years on and it rarely ever happens anymore... Is everyone so focused on avoiding the other idiots in traffic that they just don't notice a bike goin' the other way anymore? Or is it just no longer the "done thing" (and should I stop acknowledging bikes going the other way)?

Actually, now that it's getting colder and I see far fewer bikes on the daily commute, those I do see seem to be more likely to give a nod or wave... Maybe it's just the "fair weather" riders that don't do it

So, do you nod, wave or ignore?

I always nod.... Well, not always. I dont nod to people on chook-chasers or Harleys.

I too have noticed that people dont nod or wave as often. Not sure why that is. Maybe it's just the newbies?? Or the clowns who think they are better than everyone else.

I always throw a wave to the meteric riders. A__hole Harley riders snub us so I snub them!

I always nod. The only time it's not the done thing, is on a ride with lots of bikes around, like the GP or Supers. You'd end up with RSI in the neck. Nod and if they don't nod back, mutter under your breath "your a dick and you probably ride a Harley, Spud"
I have a question to Spud and his patched brothers, If you don't like Jap bikes, why go to the races. Is it because your bikes don't go, don't stop and don't turn. Hhhmmm, i want to pay $20k+ for peice of shit like that.

Mind you, I also get waves from truckers ( I think I use that hwy too much) - it's prolly cause I wave to truckers when they let me pass...

I have been nodding (mainly with the odd wave) for the past 30 years
and unless...
the rider is on a HArley, it is heavy traffic (hands full type stuff or you ain't seen) or on the run to the GP or WSBK (TOO many!)
I have always had a response
still do...
even in the local streets, a nod it is....
and a nod I get back

I'm brand new to the whole riding thing and just thought it was so cool that these nice biker types would nod to you as they rode by. I must have just gotten lucky on my first few rides though, because now hardly anyone does it. Or maybe i was just concentrating so hard on those first couple of rides that I didn't notice the rude ones who didn't

Anyway, I reckon it's great, everyone should do it and if you don't I hope you run off the road when you get round the next corner.... Not really, but that's what pops into my head after you've gone past...

guess you have worked out by now that....
Harley riders don't, some italian types on dukes don't, scooter riders
generally don't and ppl on the road on traillies generally don't
most others do......

the best wave and a nod I have ever had....
was from a learner (L plater) on the Deans Marsh to Lorne rd a few years ago....
he rose outta the seat, nodded and then taking both hands off the
bars...gave a 'mexican' wave....(like at the footy or cricket)
I was so stunned, I nearly missed the entry point to the next corner
(and on the Lorne to Deans Marsh rd...that is a no-no )
so
just keep trying...

but basically...don't let the bastards wear you down....

I'm pretty much the same as all you guys, and always nod - cept for the understandable exceptions already mentioned

Hell, I even forget I'm not on my bike sometimes and nod from my cage drivers seat..... Is that sad or what???

It's when you're trying to get your knee down in the bends and then remember your in the cage..........now that's sad
