my 05 zx6r got rammed in lt collins St

Post by damo137 »

Hey Guys

I park my bike on the footpath in little Collins st across from 505 lt collins every day. While I was at work someone rammed it. The tank is dented on the left side and it must've fallen on the right side cause the brake lever is cracked right through and there are scratches on the fairing. It could not have been a car cause I park a fair way from the gutter (it's a very wide footpath) The only thing that could've done this is another bike. There was a big BMW GS parked to the left of me yesterday morning and he's not there today. I swear I lost all faith in humanity last night. How can somebody do this and not even leave a note??? fecking asshole! Now I don't know whether to put it through insurance or not ($400 excess). Your advice would be greatful.

get a couple quotes first before making a claim - you might be surprised.
you could probably fix it for not that much more than the excess and saves paying out your arse for insurance forever more.

then go and glass the person responsible (if/when you find out who it was)

some people are real arseholes.

good luck with it anyway.

thanks for your feedback guys.

the latest is as follows:

I left a note on 4 other bikes that park in the same spot as me. I was contacted by Sally. She located the BMW. The guy parked it around the corner in queen street. This is strange because he's parked in the same spot next to me for the past few weeks and today decided to park elsewhere, also I noticed that he removed his panniers. He must've hit it with the right pannier, which makes sense judging by the damage to my bike. I left a note for him to call me. There are no cameras around in that area. What should I do.

1. Wait till the end of the day for him to contact me
2. Ring the cops and report it
3. ring the insurance company and report it
4. Get quotes and then asses the situation

I hate this shit....

I think there is someone in the city who does not like bikes

happened to my Bro (about 10 days ago) in the city..
someone kicked the left side of the tank..dint about foot sized
bike falls on the right hand side...he was in Collins st (near William st)

report it to the cops ( he did) and then get a quote for the
damage..I think you will find it will be more than ya excess
My brothers was...his Hoond () had a very damaged right
hand side inc a punctured engine case....about $3large to fix

If it's like Smitty says, the BMW guy might've had his bike knocked over too, damaged the panniers, and decided to park somewhere else because of it...dunno, but it's a bummer either way :?

Stompy has given good advice.

First thing to do is get estimates for repairs & from there decide whether
its worth lodging a claim. Keep in mind (as Stompy said) that future
premiums will be loaded.

Call the BMW riders bluff, and just accuse him outright, say you saw the whole thing and waited for him to do the right thing and was disgusted he didn't do the right thing, he may just admit it.

Sounds strange that another bike while pulling out from parking could dent your tank on the left hand side and with enough force to knock it over as well .
Im a bit with Smitty , yours is the 4th bike I have heard of that has been knocked over while parked on the footpath in Melb CBD in the last 2 months.
There are a lot of people out there who have no idea that its legal to park on the footpath here and even more who despise motorcycles being on "their" footpath .
Bad Luck Mate
Ummmm let me see

I filed a police report today and I've got the Kawi booked in for a quote at Brighton Kawasaki on Monday morning.

I received a call from Andrew who parks in the same area and his bike was damaged the same day, bent rear brake lever and scratches on the right side. I will keep him up to date with any developments...

Thank you very much for your feedback on this. I really appreciate it.

Cheers

Damo
