Census, great idea from Nutrider
All,
In just 2 week, we have our national census - the night of Tue August 8th.
In the last census - 2001 - only 10% of households, that had 1 or more
motorcycles, rode their bikes to work on that day.
If that number was increased to at least 50%, (which would equate to
~220,000 motorcycles - based on 2005 figures on national bike
registrations) then wouldn't that be a great statistic for us to use in
the future when talking with government and safety bodies. Imagine being
able to tell them that the 2006 census showed that over 200,000 bikes
(or around 50% of riders) are ridden/commuted on each day! The safety
and importance benefits of being able to use/quote that statistic would
be fantastic!
Netrider (http://www.netrider.net.au) has posted a front page news item,
and a discussion forum topic, giving a "call to arms" for riders to
ensure they ride to work on census day. It would be encouraging if
everyone did the same with their membership base and/or riding friends
and contacts. (feel free to forward this email to them). Lets get that
census working for us!

Sounds good to me.... I will leave the car at homemick_dundee wrote: Netrider (http://www.netrider.net.au) has posted a front page news item,

The world is round. It has no point.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics are also conducting a three month survey of motorvehicle users, which they have included me in. As it is over a longer period than the census day, I think they will be using the information gained from that rather than the census. Although in theory the census includes everyone instead of the other survey's limited number.
Needless to say I will be riding my bike regularly throughout the three months, including the trip to PI, and also on census day...so either way i'll be doing my bit

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

sorry for being dumb, but asking is the only way to find stuff out right? and I hate being pregnant.
