I was also thinking about something else that has always tickled my fancy too! I have a bit of a thing for V-four Honda engines. The RC30 to me is still the most awesome sounding machine ever to aurally stimulate my orifices. I rode a full ex HRC RC30 at the Island in 1995, for unfortunately only a couple of laps. I still get movement off the seam just thinking about it. But an RC30 is expensive, and I couldn't ride it for too long anyhoo. So maybe a fightered VFR would also be an option. The only concern is the lack of power. Would THAT sound compensate for the lack of go? mmmmmmm Single sided swingarm, V-four growl, Gp mega phone style side pipe? mmmmmm food for thought!!!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

Your right on all bar the steering Neka. Viffers steer mint. I have ridden a fair few over the years. they just lack a little clearance as does the Hornet, but an aftermarket shock assists in getting the arse off the ground too.Neka79 wrote:nah..i doubt it...

This is also part of the thought process behind making something myself. You see, I hop on my 11 year old race bike, and it is properly set up, and it steers like a motorbike should. So If I can weave my handling and set up magic in the same way on a special, even an older bike is going to end up steering really well.
Sharing the pits with Simmo, also made me notice how nice 9's are in the chassis dept. Nice long swingarm, tight geometry, light weight, a good basis for a special!

Thanks ...yeah I saw that. I reckon he has optomistic thoughts with $4450 as a price though!!! The entire body work is nearly knackered, front and back. I might send him a message and offer him $2000

I know where you can get a great GPX600 that would make a top streetfighter, already has most of the fairings removed (quick style removal). Ah can you imagine it...?

Yeah but my sister is puuuuurty.
Yeah yeah I know and the brakes aren't much joy either. Going to do a trackday on it in a couple of weeks to, coz they won't let me take the R1 there. I can put up with the lack of power and the frame flex and poor handling, but if only it had reasonable brakes I would be happier. I tried to find good pads for it but couldn't, so got the cheapest I could instead....
