Awww Not again!!! I am hopeless!!

Post by Strika »

Well, I dunno whats wrong with me, but boredom strikes me very early with muddaboiks. What I mean is, that I get sick of what I have, pretty much no matter how good it is very quickly. And I hate to say it, but the Hornet, while a great bike, has lost a little interest lately.

I have been thinking of doing something a little different. I still want to stay with the naked style. But I want to make something that's a little unique, and perhaps more tailored to how I ride. So I have been thinking of selling the Hornet, and building a ZX9 Street fighter of some sort. I saw a 6 done up like this on the web, and while a few things were a little too garish for my taste, I could see the basis of a good bike there.

Nothing over the top. But something simple, and neat. Maybe a different top yoke with some wider MX style bars, a small bikini screen of some sort, a set of Shark undertail pipes or similiar, and some decent suspension front and rear. I wouldn't bother with engine mods, they have 125 at the wheel min, so power isn't an issue. I am thinking a pretty much all Kawasaki Green ZX9 (C onwards) street fighter.......... :?

What ya think guys n gals????

I just looked at one again at lunch. They are still a large bike the 14. And the left hand side lower fairing would be destroyed in one ride up the spurs

I think I will stick the Hornet up for sale and see what offers it attracts. If I get a decent bite I may start this project sooner rather than later.

Now remember strika.... Dont turn an expensive bike into a streetfighter, it will only cost you money..... Get something cheaper, an older ZX9R or something.... (oops, I nearly said Gixxer or Blade there)...

A cheap fighter looks like you just took the fairings off, a decent one looks the mutts nuts but costs way more than you'll ever get back. You may have lost very little on the 6, probably won't lose much on the Hornet, but will if you fighter anything. If you're gonna do it, be prepared to put up with it. Having said that, done right they have the go and the show.

Nah, the donor bike has to be a cheapy, as you always spend loads more than you initially intend!!! That's why I am thinking C model. Get a cosmetically faarked one for 4-5k and then spend ten on it!!!
