very similar to mine. Mine also had a set of 13x7 Sprintmasters

then
my cousin went out and bought a LC GTRXU1 not long after i did my LJ
up and when he found out the XU1 could not keep up with my LJ
we fitted a 30thou over 308 with cam and 750 Holley into the LC
think the diff last 2 days and the Chev Saginaw box about a month

but shit it was quick

How long ago did you guys mess around with these cars? Must be old fella's like me ... heh heh

My first was an LC GTR bought in about 1988 (not that long ago) It was a ridgy dig 69 GTR came out with a 161 and it had a 173 when I bought her but soon put 202 and steel case 5 speed box out of a celica. Bloody good fuel eccon with a 465 cfm 4brl holley. 13" Sprintmasters very schmick. Raced it at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip in Darwin where the V8 Supers are racing this weekend ... she pulled a consistant 14.7 sec Quarter mile ... I really wanted to get down into the 13 sec though but kids came along and that was the end of that.

But the new steed with the EFI 308 should get down to 13 I hope will take her to Mackay Drags after getting QLD Mod Plates on and see how she goes ...

Love to race the ZX6R done the strip and see what it can do to. My 'ol ZX7R done OK with a 11.4 sec time ohhh welll.

I started building my LJ in '75
( I got it for $50 ...it had an engine bay fire)
and over the next 15-18mths rebuilt to 'show' condition
and
then started playing...big carbs/zorst..blow the engine
rebuild engine..bigger carbs..blow gearbox etc etc
you know the story

my cousin bought the LC in '76 or early '77 from memory
and by the end of '77 the 308 was in....
btw
my cous' was madder about cars then me!
he had his missus drive the V8 LC while he (with help from me)
stuck a 2 litre DOHC Ford Cosworth mit Turbo in a
...Ford Prefect van

Blew the std diff on the first
run down the street and we fitted a spare Torrie diff in
..don't think that lasted long either

oh
and .....I had hair back then

Not shock that chikky didnt know the quote or the belief that is wasnt "normal" english
But the proof that she CAN spell correctly and is just lazy like the rest of us.

I am still pissed at her "IF my teachers care I could spell properly" crap, Chikky if YOU cared you CAN spell properly.....
If youve got learning issues is one thing, but that was just a cop out.

Found the pics of my Torana..
I had an LC as my first car then got this as a stock 73 GTR in the mid 80's.
Spent thousands on it and it did high 13's down the 1/4 at the Canberra drag strip after the 86 Nats..

Wow very nice there Madkaw ... 13's is ex for a 6. My old LC was only good for 14.7 ... Have not taken the V8 down the 1/4 yet ... soon
