linky
What's this mandatory business, what is one persons trash is another person's treasure. Besides there could be some "useful" sites caught up in this porn filtering bizzo.

They should be targetting PARENTS for allowing children unsupervised access to the internet...

No offence to the aussies in the audience... but this country blames LOADS OF STUFF on the wrong people....

40kph in school zones.... Sure that is a good idea, but blaming the MOTORIST for accidents in school zones seems stupid.... They have right of way anyway! If a kid runs in front of your car even at 40kph you are still gonna kill it!.... They should make parents and schools more responsible.

As far as pornography on the net goes.... they should make the entire net PG only.... and ENFORCE (or at least pretend to) rules that ensure that parents do not allow children unsupervised access...
The world is round. It has no point.

agreed, we're going the way of "little america"

As a kid..
40-30 yrs ago if you hurt yourself in the playground, you got a belting from yer pa for being stupid & gettin hurt.
20-15 years ago if you hurt yourself in a playground, your parents said "be careful next time"
8-0 yrs ago if you hurt yourself in a playground, your parents would take you to the emergency ward for a scrape, then sue the local council for having an unsafe playground and thusly the playground would get closed, or at least 1000000 disclaimer signs around it. Provided you were even allowed to go out in public by yourself lest a paedo with an evil flash equipped camera and a recordable mp3 player happened to take your photo or record your laughter.

Whatever happened to "its your own stupid fault" ?
the worlds fucked, that's all it is. Someone with clout needs to seriously re-evaluate everything and then drop half these stupid fuckin laws.

I agree Stareo. As a mother of a 13yo boy I know that you cannot stop everything and anything BUT how ever we have full control of his PC from our PC and can turn the net on and off and see what he is doing. It's our jobs as parents to make sure to the best we can that our kids do whats right and know whats right.
As for kids running in front of cars happened to my ex husband he was driving along in a shopping strip and only doing 30km when this boy of about 12 ran from between 2 parked cars his mum turned around and said to my ex husband as this kid was being lifted into an Ambulance " Don't worry his been doing it all day" I mean ffs if he had been doing it all day put the bugga on a leash. ( oh the kid was OK by the way)

I'm really looking forward top seeing how 1 government can physically determine which of several billion web pages are unsuitable, and how exactly they are going to enforce such a ban - a complete waste of tax payers maney.

Well thats what happens when you get self righteous churchies elected into governments, where they and their narrow views and intolerance for anything they personally dont like get foisted onto those of us who dont share their views.

I agree that parents should be looking out for their OWN kids and policing that sort of stuff themselves. Strange idea, I know, but it might just work you know....

Its easy enough to put a leach on the kids home net surfing if you are really worried about it, I have a child who likes to play a online game for several days while he is over and always uses the same computer so i know there are no no bad links to goat porn and such on it.

Its a bit disturbing that hes playing on it when i go to bed at 11pm and is back on it at 5am the next morning though.

All i can say is dont censor the net, the tv is for mind control leave the net alone and if i want a kiddie filter i will buy one.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Naaah, its not just self righteous churchies that are sick of this stuff.... I myself dont mind the occasional bit of porn, and to laugh at people if stupid stuff happens.... but there is stuff on the net that just shouldnt be publicly available....

That said.... meh.... the internet wouldnt be as good if people couldnt post whatever they liked...

The girls have their own site on pixo.... i had a look and i wasn't impressed with the pop up shyte... etc i did tell them if it gets worse...... their will be no sites.

Brandon told me they were SURFING at school and accidently came across a site. I thought school sites were sposed to be blocked?
