Bikes for shorties

Post by Colette »

Which bikes - Kwaka or non-Kwaka - do people think are good choices for short riders, not sacrificing engine capacity or performance?

(I know I'm gonna get some silly comments  but a few good suggestions would also be helpful). Thanks :)

I'm only 5'4" and I ride a ZX6 lowered an inch so the balls of my feet are flat on the ground.

Hmm.. not sure, but can check tonight when I get home.

When they lowered mine they told me another girl who had bought the same bike was much shorter than me and had hers lowered even more.

:) That reminds me.. Back when I was browsing, I was also considering a CBR600. The sales guy told me to forget about lowering it, just get the 1000 - it's smaller.

There is always cruisers, you can definiitely get your feet down on them....
and your pegs when there going
This is one I have been thinking on lately...

Nearly all sportsbikes sport subframes now so (you would have to be bloody keen but) you could either modify the frame or the mounting points.

Yeah I know it will stuff up handling etc but not as much as not being able to reach the bloody pegs

Just a couple of ideas...
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

It's not only the rider's height that matter, the weight is also an issue.

Weight is important as it pushes the shocks down, which means the riding height goes down as well.

Ok... as posted before (by me)

Ok... Well here is the run down on the current range...

(your current bike should be the same as the first one)

Height (inches) / Bike year/Model

29.3 2001 GPX 250
30.9 2006 ER6N
30.9 2006 ER6F
31.5 2006 Kawasaki ZX-14
32.1 2006 Kawasaki Z750S
32.3 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R
32.3 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6RR
32.3 2006 Kawasaki Z1000
32.3 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600
34.8 2006 Kawasaki KLX250S
35.0 2006 Kawasaki KLR650

Measure from your foot to your ... uhm.... groin area... or even better measure your current bike standing up and compare it to this chart...

Note, the ER6F/N won the Aus Twin (up to 650) comp for victoria this year...

The ER6N is unfortunately also the hardest to adjust the ride height of.... because of the unusual spring method.... So if it is right for you great... otherwise you would have to consider something else... Give Race Replica a call, they are very helpfull...
The world is round. It has no point.
