ZX7R DYNO RESULTS

Post by fat460 »

Well picked up my 7 from Powerhouse at Nerang tonight. Ended up putting out 114.5 peaking at 11000rpm approx. A little down under 5000rpm due to race system fitted. I didn't think it would have that much but feels great on the road - can't wait to get to the track. How does this compare to other zx7r 's (I'm not after a chest beating contest but genuinely interested to see how it compares). I know how cars compare but bikes are a bit new. Picture of the graph below if it works. Thanks guys and gals.
Paul.

Looks good, just needs a bit of tuning to get rid of the flat spot at 8000 rpm.

My old zx7r put out 109hp and had a slip on and dynojet kit...

Thanks Dave. Yeah it needs some more time spent on it to smooth it out there, it goes through a rich spot at that point. We'll look at that in the next installment (set ignition advancer conservative ATM).

My old 7R was putting out 113hp at the wheel, this was just a full race system, custom made can and K&N filter, plus the obligatory jet kit. It actually made 116 in one session, but was tuned differently to try to get rid of the flat spot. It still has a pretty big flat spot though, from about 7,000 to almost 9,000 RPM. Which really sux at the track.

many moons ago Parrys had a free dyno day and at the time i owned a ZZR1100 and the ZXR750 H1

they both had a run and both had 2 distinct dips in the power

found the graphs the other day , one day will get em scanned and throw em up

A titanium Muzzy still works wonders with the ZX7R. We tuned one for club racing when they first came out. Just needles, jets and the Muzzy. It read 121 on Phil taintons dyno. It could have been a freak, but that's what it read. Power is from 6k onwards. With the dip way down around 4500 from memory! :)

There is still an ex TKA ZX7R racing at club level here in vic. And fcuk the thing is fast. The guy who has it whispers numbers like 160 to me!!!!

Indecent is more like it Mina!!!!! You ever thrown a leg over something with 160 at the wheel and used it in anger??? Faarkin scary it is!!!!!!!  Picture this Mina...........Turn 12 at the island.......Click 4th and feather the throttle as you tip it in so it doesn't wheelspin  ..........guide it to the apex start to stand it up and get on the gas :? ..............200+kph  .................hits 9000rpm and starts to fight for traction...........starts off as a little spin....grip.....spin...grip.... then it just spins and starts to lay smoke.......you heavily weight the outside peg to try and stop it spinning and maintain traction and at the same time start climbing over the front of the bike as you increase the throttle..... You then balance the power and wheelspin with the throttle............too much and it spins up like a two stroke in the wet  ......then if you back it off too much it grips and wheelies at over 200 just from power...........you make the turn and keep it pinned.......click 5th as you stand it upright from 12..........it hits peak power as it changes into 5th and lifts the front wheel........you are climbing over the front and dragging a little back brake to attempt to stop it peeling over backwards.........it finally comes back down with a massive wobble as you click 6th going over the start finish line at over 270kph!!! ..............Return to pits to remove jock filling and stains!!!!!

I rode an ex factory ZX7R in 1997. I shit you not it frightened the fcuk outta me. It was just so powerful everywhere! It's brakes and suspension were rock hard to deal with all the forces and it was not an easy bike to ride, let alone to ride fast. But for the sheer exileration of smoking a rear tyre or wheelstanding just from power at over double the metric tonne is pretty damn awesome i gotta say. :)

Nice. How much does it cost to put it on a dyno?
