WALKER SPLASHES ONTO FRONT ROW FOR PSG-1 KAWASAKI CORSE
The first wet Superpole day of the 2006 season saw all three of PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse’s riders qualify inside the top 16 in regulation qualifying, and then experience a wide range of fortunes as the Superpole session dawned fully wet. Chris Walker (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) scored a superb third place at his home race, the best qualifying performance for any of the team’s rider in 2006 thus far. Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) battled against rear grip concerns in the wet conditions to finish ninth fastest, while Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse) had a similar experience, and was unable to improve in what were supposedly drier conditions later in the session. Pole was taken by young British wild card rider, Tommy Hill (Yamaha).

CHRIS WALKER: 3rd – 1’38.265: “It was tough out there in those conditions and a lot of people waited until the end to try and set a time. But it seemed to just get wetter and more slippery. But qualifying third is great for the team and me, and it’s good for the British fans as well. It’s supposed to be dry tomorrow and if it I hope that it’s dry for warm-up as well, because we have some things to try for our dry set-up if it is. Because this is a new bike this year, we don’t have any data from last year we know will be useful to us.”

REGIS LACONI: 9th – 1’40.042: “I am not very happy because I could not find grip on the rear in these wet conditions. When I opened the throttle the grip was OK then when I tried to move through the powerband the rear was giving me big slides. Great for the spectators but no use if you want to go fast. In the dry we have not had much practice, but I hope it is dry, because of our condition in the wet. I can do a lot better than that, but it was just not possible.”

FONSI NIETO: 14th – 1’40.729: “The problem for me was a lack of rear grip and although I waited until near the end to try again, when it looked drier, there was still no improvement in the track and I only finished on the fourth row. I was fast in the dry so I hope it is like that tomorrow.”

WALKER LEADS RACE TWO FOR PSG-1 KAWASAKI CORSE TEAM
Chris Walker used obvious his pace at his local circuit to score sixth and eighth places in the 28-lap Silverstone races, but ran confidently in the lead for a time during race two, slowly dropping through the field as other riders picked up places. It was a more disappointing weekend of work for the other team riders, with Regis Laconi struggling against chatter in race two, after scoring a fine seventh in race one. The luckless Fonsi Nieto was taken out in the first race, in a four-rider spill, and in the race restart he felt dizzy, having bashed his head hard on the tarmac. He nonetheless stuck at the task to score championship points in both races.

CHRIS WALKER: 6th & 8th – 51 Points, 10th Overall: “The bike was so good today but we still didn’t have quite enough to get on the rostrum. But no complaints about the bike, it was superb in qualifying and the race, and hopefully it is a sign of things to come. It was great to lead for a couple of laps.”

REGIS LACONI: 7th & 14th – 42 Points, 14th Overall: “I had a big problem with chattering in the second race and some problems with the gearbox so that affected my performance. I’m not completely happy because I wanted to make an even better race than the first one.”

FONSI NIETO: 11th & 10th – 48 Points, 11th Overall: “I was dizzy from hitting my head in the first race. This is the second time I have been taken out in turn one, but it is my own fault for qualifying badly. In SBK you have to qualify well to get away from the crazy riders. On the restart I had to use another bike and we changed the engine for the second race again.”

Yeah lucky He didn't have any CO2 bottles for his puncture repair kit go off as he hurdled his erupting Fireblade! Have to change his surname then from Alex Barros to...... Alex Balloff!

nice to see the fireblade liveing up to it's name!! Carving thru the run off strip on fire!!! Should be there new marketing slogan.

Honda must have a thing for this, because my Hornet stung me the other day!

And Only yesterday i do believe that duane was beaten up by a ninja utilising a weapon called an Excel!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?

It was awesome seeing stalker lead for the first few laps of race 2 and fight with the front runners for the majority of the race. It was only the last couple of laps that he dropped backed to 8th place.

Hope the development continues on from here and the kwaka can get some podiums. :) Luv those flames(exhaust) too! 8)
