I am gettin old arn't I?????
OK once again if I buy a newie, I will have to look for something that corners at least as good if not better than the Hornet, with a really comfy (read not sportbike) ride possie, and i want more grunt and power than the Hornet.
Would be happy with a naked (with a small screen like mine) or a half naked Like the FZS, or a full faired bike. It doesn't matter to me. )
nice handler..more grunt and power
and its green ..of course

GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

That's the old one yeah??? If so thanks anyway, but no thanks. I tend to buy newies if I can.
If I go a naked i would like a Z1000 preferably, but the new FZ's are a nice bit of kit too.
Blackbirds are cheap at the moment too.

dont listen to these guys tryin to see ya on the "new" litre bikes if your not gonna have a lot of money to throw around. Get an old mid ninties zzr1100. They go like the wind, are selling for as low as 4000 and you can do all your own maintenance with a hand full of spanners.. (and several hi-tec tools for measuring shit
) Plus they get upwards of 400km on a tank.

they lack ground clearance Chameleon. I need to be really close to the ground thru the turns mate, cause obviously I can't stay on the thing, so it is less to fall then.chameleon wrote:dont listen to these guys tryin to see ya on the "new" litre bikes if your not gonna have a lot of money to throw around. I have riden several late model ZZR1100's. They are plenty powerful and plenty grunty that's for sure, but they ground out too early for my liking. And they are a loooooooong bike, so no matter how much you jack the back up they won't hold the sort of line that I like thru a turn

Nice on the fast sweepers though for sure.
If Kawasaki did some thing like the Sprint I would be happy. They are a very small sports tourer. I sat on one again today at Marysville.
The ZRX1200 has been suggested, but the handling isn't my cup of tea. Once again OK to a point then it all gets ugly

Maybe a streetfighter 10! With Renthals, Double headlights, And a wicked screen all finished in Kwaka green! Mind the Bride would be really pissie, as she loves the ride position of the Hornet's pillion seat.

For those that have seen my 20 year old GPX would know that I'm a tricker not a trader.
And I cant believe that I'm the only one so far that has picked trick it in the survey ????????
If you have something you like and its not in that bad condition work the shit out of it and make it a sleeper.
Everyone has new weapons .
Remember its more satisfying to go fast on something that people think cant !!!

Problem is, I reckon I can get away with bling replacement engine covers no worries. New pipes too, as the current ones are scratched (Covers are only but Ssshhhh!), But cams, Power commander, Headers, Ohlins rear shock, may just stretch the friendship
Whereas, I could always buy something more wife orientated Like a Triumph Sprint, Or a BMW K12 or or or fcuk I dunno???

after having ridden both the 955 and 1050 sprint st's, you could do alot worse.Strika wrote:Problem is, I reckon I can get away with bling replacement engine covers no worries. The 1050 would be the only one i would consider Phil. I may just blag a demo ride and see if I like them.Phil wrote:after having ridden both the 955 and 1050 sprint st's, you could do alot worse.Strika wrote:Problem is, I reckon I can get away with bling replacement engine covers no worries. I would really like another Kwaka. But the 10 is too hunched for my back, the ZZR12 is a boat, the ZRX12 is just a tad too old school even for me, and the Z1000 is once again bordering on the too sporty side for pillion accomodation. The ZX12 is an option but once again the ride position is sporty and the pillion seat probably won't pass approval from the minister of finance.

I saw a Sprint 1050 at M'sville today. The guy on it was from NSW. He owns a scooter shop up there. He had ridden his VFR to Melbourne and traded it in at P.Stevens for a new 1050 Sprint and was happily on his way home. We gave him some directions to keep him entertained. So he let me have a little sit and fiddle on the Sprint. Comfy ride position, and they are actually a small bike too!

I just can't think what else is out there at the moment. Price isn't that much of an issue, but Exotic stuff is not my cup of tea for an everyday ride.

Yes they do seem to get there in a hurry. I haven't "ground" anything myself yet but I can't be far off since I only have a half centimeter of kishy strip left out back. I'll probably get a surprise one day soonStrika wrote:

I guess the thing with them is their weight! They are a heavy bike, not the sort of bike you can throw from side to side rapidly. I tried it the other day and she didn't like it at all at all. Got out of shape there for a few nasty moments.

Well if money was not an objection I would look for something bit fashionable. Superduke, K1200R... you dig 'bro' ?
If you do, like me, then live with the scratches even
Problem is that hornet is real bang for the buck, I heard Honda is doing them $11 grand rideaway ?
Or maybe Z1000 or F1Z ? they simply look much better. The issue with tricked-up anything is they look gay unless done properly like R1SP or Yoshimura Gixxer, or JoeRocket Honda which will set you back $$$$$$

Triumph Sprint is way to go for two up and sporty ride but one outside the square is BMWs new F800S or ST, Two Wheels had review on them last month and the parallel twin by Rotax is a gem and for 14k thats a lot left over for trick bits...how sweet does a twin sound with an exhaust to do it justice
