To oggie or not to oggie?
Yes plenty of room in the jacket and when you run out, I stick my helmet strap through the loops of the plastic bags and do it upZZRCHIKKY wrote:well u shove them in ur jacket in numerouse placesBarrabob wrote:

crash's can damage the frame of the bike, but I've also heard from quite a few people who've crashed with them on that they've saved the bike a fair bit of damage, it all depends on the crash.
Saw one recently on a crappyyamaha, i'd been telling the guy for months to buy them, he got them, lowsided at 60kmh, came back in, replaced the crash knob, crashed again same side. He showed me the bike, the only damage was a couple of scratches in the fairings.
Gail, I'd do it if I was you, especially with such a schmick bike

Two weeks ago I priced up Oggies for the CBR, decided not to get them on the spot. 8 days ago I lowsided at 60k and now the insurance repair bill is $6,000. All the damage is minor fairing damage, but full comp ins requires replacement of damaged items, plus the respray and new decals. If I were to do the repairs myself (Wreckers yard) it would cost about $1800.
I think I should have got the Oggies

No one else has mentioned it yet so I will
What about Oggies digging in at "higher" speed
Ok sure they are going to be brilliant if your bike falls off the stand, or for a nice gentle 40k low side.
But what about anything rougher than that, surely they have the increased potential to dig in and start the bike cartwheeling, and thats going to be BIG damage.

a. if its minor the oggies protect
b.if its a big one the oggies cause 3x the damage & u get a new bike!!
WIN/WIN situation...
seriously i had em on my bike, and the 1st crash the crash shattered, the bolt snapped, and the frame didnt get a single scratch...the 2nd one the bike spun on the crash & ground away the engine cover, spilling oil, and trashed the fairings, but not a scratch on the frame....
there not to protect the fairings...in sum cases they do more damage, in sum cases they protect....for $100 or thereabouts, is ur bike worth risking it??

I had oggies on my Gixx600 and when I highsided it, the knobs saved any major damage to controls, frame etc, but as the bike slid off the track, the right side knob caught the ripple strip, bending it nearly 90° towards the front of the bike, and doing a fair bit of damage to the engine mounting tab. Cosmetic damage, but I would have rathered be re-glassing fairings than have a critical part of the frame damaged.
