Is this a collecctors item.??
Can't see any other reason why a 93 zzr 600 ex race bike would be going for $4000..

Didn't know they raced the ZZR over the ZX6...
And the motor is blue printed.. but needs rebuilding.. interesting..
Would have thought the ZX would kill the ZZ around the track done up..

I've been following this auction for a while now. I was thinking, if it was worth rebuilding the engine,
wouldn't you just have it done for yourself?
Hmmm *shrugs*
Maybe he doesn't have time or the finances to do it
But Yes I would like it. But I'm too far away and would rather spend the money in other ways

Dave make a typo.!!!!.... Perhaps,
but get his Kawasaki's wrong... never.!!
Its definately a zzr600 as the zx6 didn't come out till 95. The front fairing is a give away and I suggest the reason he calls it a zx600 (the us model name) is because he probly wouldn't want it known its a zzr... dunno..
And yes they did race them quite successfully in the early days of supersport. They were the generally one of the quickest 600s although not necessarily the best handling..
And Corbywan, if you were interested in that thing at $4000, I know a guy who has a much later model 900, with a freshly rebuilt engine that puts out much more power and probly weighs about the same as that zzr,
and it won't cost you that much more...
It may also become a collectors item.... You could tell eveyone it was once owned by the founder of KSRC.. Now that would keep its value up...
not.!!!

Yeah racebike I'd pay that...in 1993

About 30kg too heavy two years later though, maybe less in it's current form.
Not a bad looking unit, although be fooked if I'd buy one with a cooked donk.

hafta agree with Dave...
to us Aussies its a ZZR..just look at the frame
the fact that they are deemed a ZX600 by Kawasaki
works in the seller's favour, me thinks
hmmm...just like mine is actually a ZX750..but marketed as the GPx
the last 7 was also a ZX750 but we know it as a ZX7R
cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!
re: Is this a collecctors item.??
dean thomas won the NSW supersport title in 93 on a zzr600.
troy bayliss and damon buckmaster also rode them in 93 and bayliss and thomas continued into 94 when buckmaster sold out and rode a yzf600.
I watched troy bayliss win 2 races on his at eastern creek in 93 and again in 94 after his comback from shocking leg injuries sustained at amaroo park (i was there for that too)
Muzzy won an AMA tilte with miguel duhamel in 92 or 93 with one as well.
as dave said they were quite often the fastest of the 600's of that era but gave away a few kilos to the cbr and yzf.

re: Is this a collecctors item.??
alot has change in 11 years of bikes.. So I'm guessing if your so inclined it could be a collectors item, as far as a competitive track bike, I honestly have no idea where you'd stand.. but prob up the back some where

And some more info from Scott Osbourne of Champions ride Days..
The talk on the zzr600 Troy owned is interesting. The bike was nothing to rave about.
In 1993 troy held the lap record on that at the creek with a flat 1:40:00. he use to wear away
Engine cases every meeting (not much ground clearance on the old girl).
That time was amazing for that heap of shit.
As far as being well sorted,(rider yes) bike was just a zzr600 with rear shock and front springs
(no gold valves back then).
The reason I know the bikes history is because after 94 I brought it and processed to throw me
Into the tar at every race track in the country.
My bone still hurt just thinking about that BIKE!!!!!!!
