Does anyone else 'iPod' whilst riding?

Post by Tex Warren »

I have a playlist of my favorite hard rockin' tracks that I listen to when blasting out along the road... does anyone else do this... if so whats your playlist top ten?

Image

1. Breaking the Law - Judas Priest
2. Ride of the Valkyries - Wagner
3. Radar Love - Golden Earing
4. Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf
5. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd Alternative - Freebird, Call me the Breeze
6. Paradise City - Guns N' Roses Alternative - Knockin on Heaven's Door
7. Invaders - Iron Maiden Alternative - Run to the Hills
8. Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen
9. Born to be Wild - Stepenwolf Alternative Magic Carpet Ride
10. Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult.... or the Muttonbirds version is great too.

Honorable mentions -

"Little Wing" - Hendrix,
"Kashmir" - Led Zep,
"Like a Hurricane" - Neil Young and Crazy Horse,
"Riders on the Storm" - Doors,
"Going up the country" - Canned Heat,
"One" - Metallica,
"Lets Go" - The Cars,
"The boys are back in town" - Thin Lizzy.
Some people are like slinkies good for nothing but still fun when you toss them down the stairs.

tried it out on the HWY, found it detracts from the riding experience, and from the awareness level. The latter by about 50~80% depending on the quality of the song

yeah i use one whenever i ride, just play all the songs randomly and keep it updated from downloads :D

that's another thing i was thinking about, instead of having an ipod, why don't we buy a big capacity mobile phone say with a 2G memory card and listen music from there and at the same time, we know who's calling too :D :D :D

riding and being on the mobile is dangerous, however u could tell ppl to call back later, especailly with those no caller id phone calls :D

Nokia N91. Your market has been catered for. 4 Gig harddrive on it. But dont expect it to be cheap. Estimates put its launch at $1500...

I just got a nokia 6280, put a 1 G mini sd card in it and 210 songs. It has a 2mp camera, radio and all contacts can be voice called, i just switch on the auto answer, mp3 player and go to the home screen. If someone calls it deactivates the mp3 player but you can voice activate the radio. All you have to o is put the mic switch inside your helmet (chin) and push on it with your Jaw.

very easy,

Unless I'm riding around town, mine is on all the time. Noise cancelling headphones are good for keeping the wind noise out.

Music choice is simple, I have a folder of all the Nickelback albums and set to shuffle. 8)

and where do u normally put the ipod or ur music players?

as i normally tie it to my arm with an armband, however it doesn't feel to comfy, thinking else where like pockets and stuff, but that means i'll have to lose the control of which song to play each time, louder or softer or even switch it off if needed

I have mine playing when we are out riding distances, but not around the city. I have about 1200 songs, all of which I like, so I just set it to shuffle and let it go. This weekend we rode to Tannum Sands and back, it was worth its weight in gold!
Cheers,
Anne

i have done it a few time but my headphone come out of my ears when i put my helmet on, and it means i have to stuff round with it for 5 minutes when i put my helmet on to get it %50 right. gives me the shits!!! but when i'm riding songs like master of puppets - S&M metallica or smack my bitch up - prodigy are always good ones to get the ol bloody pumping. or a bit of pete murry if it's a relaxing trip on the highway

Yep sure do. Have myself a sony mobile with a 2gig card in it.
With the same functions as jewjew's . The original headset that came with the phone seemed to have the mic really short. When i put in on under my helmet though it sits just in the helmet under the chin bar. Bloody nice that.
Haven't taken any calls at speed just yet. AT least I could pull over and not have to rip my helmet off to get the call.

I normally have it sitting in my pocket but obviously loose any control over volume etc like that. Im considering a mount of some description to set in up in the dash. Will need to be real solid and not require any modification of the dash itself. Or I could just leave it in my pocket.
If anyone has a simlar mount Id be interested in a pic if you have one.

Oh and only on long rides. Never in the city or heavy traffic. I like to hear the suckers comin at me
