Laid the bike down (gentle). now runnin like a dog. Why ?

Hey all, took a good 2 hour run on the bike and about 30 minutes from home I decided to pulled off down a dead end round about for a quick smoke. Throwing a u -turn the front tyre managed to slip out and I laid the bike down. I managed to lay it downvery gently and luckily enough I didnt do any damage save for a slight scratch on the pipe. Was already one there from the previous owner anyway.

A bloke that saw me do it on a van pulled over and gave me a hand to lift her up. It was appreciated but I thought here is my chance to see how hard it is to lift one up. Thanks champ

Anyway it shut itself off almost straight away when on its side and took about 30 minutes to start up again. I'm figuring it flooded itself.
Bloody lucky it started when it did because I think the battery only had a few goes left in it.

So i let it run for a bit and decided I got off lucky and headed home.

Here's when the fun starts. fine up to 3rd and then it started chugging like a drunk at happy hour. So I pulled over and gave it a bit of a rev and no probs. However this continued all the way home.
Im not sure if its thrown something out but it jumps and farts around the 5000rpm mark and then just dies in the arse. Doesnt turn off but the revs just drop right off.
I checked the throttle and it seems fine.
Right now though I have no idea and am open to suggestions on what to check out or look for.
While it was resting on the pipe, it all appears to be sitting nicely and not have any gaps in it.

Also while Im asking for advice, can you jump start a bike with a car??

what kinda bike? Carborated or EFI?

Yep good point Stereo . some detail would be good. Its a 99zx6r. So carbs it is.
Booked it in already to be looked at but theyre busy til next monday. SO heres hoping its something simple. He's suggesting a carb issue.

I would suggest you have upset the fuel system
either the carbs or the tank had some crap in it which
is now floating around..just needs a clean out

and yes..you can jump a bike with a car
(as long as the car is neg earth-99% are)

Check your spark plug leads too! One of them may have come loose.

If its cutting out under load couldnt it be dirty spark plugs.... when you laid the bike on its side you may have got oil or something on them and they could be fouled...

I had a similar thing happen on my cbr.... it would run ok at low revs and if I revved it out it sounded ok, but when riding it would start to sound like it was drowning ... but only in certain rev ranges....

If there is a hiccup in the way the engine behaves, one way to figure out if may be electrical or carby based is does it follow engine revs specifically, or does it moreso follow the throttle opening?

It not specific to the revs but more after I start to throttle up.
It is possible that since I near killed be battery to get it going again that it may also be causing an issue ?

I'm going out to have a poke around today .

Just as a follow up, I've taken the tank off and drained the carbies. Blew out the air box etc while I was there and simply put it back together again.
Woudln't ya know it, but she's runnin fine again.
A big woohoo from me.

Thanks for the input guys. Now to get it lowered a little bit, so as not to do it again.
