Closemotorcycles Redfern Sydney/shop recomendations 4 used
Hey all, yet another question for ya.
Anyone had any dealings with Close Motorcyle down in Sydney ?
They have a few things I'd like to look at so that's a definate stop for the day. Are they genuine, good after sales service or are they a reasonable bunch of blokes? Anything else you can think of if you have dealt with them would be good.
I'm heading down to Sydney on Saturday with around 6500 in my back pocket to pick up a sports 600. Ive kept my eye out on the net and have been checking out a few shops in Sydney but some really dont have a good grasp on what it means to have a fuctional website.
I know stock can turn ver pretty quick, but it is 2006 for god sake.
Anyway if anyone has suggestions on somewhere around the Sydney area which may be worth having a peak at, then let me know.
Actually central coast on the way from Newcastle could be a doer too.
I'm even open to checkin out private stuff if someone knows of something going for around that price. hoping for around 97-99 model with sub 40 thou on the clock. Cosmetics arent a priority but I dont want anything thats dented to shit either.
So come on guys, I have money, I have a trailer and I just need to know where to check out.
Thanks in advance

websites cost money to maintain
it will be a long long time till you see regular updated websites in aus
check bikesales and bikepont for local bikes
ebay also i guess
I wouldnt neglect looking into Vic as there seems to be some good prices
actually looking on bikesales the other night there is a ZX7 with 50K some minor cosmetics for $5K in syd

Thanks mate. I know sites can take time and money to maintain but close have a great website and they're likely to get my bussiness because of it.
I've had a close eye on bikesale, the trading post, motorcycle trader magazine and ebay.
I know I'm looking for an older bike and naturally the k's are going to be higher. Im just a bit worried about anything getting up to the 50 mark or higher.
You know what it's like, you want better for the money you can afford for less than the money you've got.

If you don't find what you are looking for in Sydney, a mate of mine still has his 1997 ZX6R for sale, it does have almost 50k on board, but it has been meticulously maintained, is a 1-owner bike, and is in excellent condition.......its yours for 6k neat.
pm for details if you like.....

well you can look at the place with the good website or you can find a place with decent bikes
close buys a few bikes from the insurance auctions , which isnt always a bad thing as some good buys come along
best bet is always going to be priv sales
reality once over 40K the value drops quickly and harder to sell
the ZX7 i mentioned, 50K is not too far over what you are looking for and with a bit of panel damage i would be starting at $4K cash in hand and would be a bargain at that
and in reality 50K isnt bad at all provided its been well looked after and is easily confirmed by inspection
otherwise just keep your eyes open on the bike sales etc , you can make a deal over the phone or email , selling bikes is always hard and there is always someone desperate to move their bike so silly offers often win

Close Motorcycles are a pretty good shop.
I got my ZZR600 from them in very good nick. I used them for the first service too as they threw in new chain and sprockets at the time as part of the deal.
I haven't heard of anyone getting a lemon from them, or getting treated badly.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.

beauty TY thats the sort of thing I was hoping for. Thanks mate.
I know what you mean about the website thing Jonnie. I just mean that if I don't know theyre there then I won't know if they have a good stock or not. Or if they even exsist for that matter.
Maybe I realy too heavily on the net but it's proving itself useful for a few options.
I just think it's another avenue for advertisement. That said I didn't want to rely soley on what I was able to source over the net and that's why I was hoping for input from you guys.
I'm more likely to responde to word of mouth than a flashy website.
It all helps though.
I've also arranged a couple of privates to go and have a look at while I'm down there. I dont want to put all my eggs inthe one basket. The more I look at the better chance I have of making a good decision. Well fingers crossed anyway.
I also made a few calls last night on stuff from bike sales. A few of them were already gone. I did make sure to ask what they sold their bikes for and most were quite happy to tell me.
I must admit I was suprised by the difference between what they advertised and what they actually took as a sale.
At least this gives me an idea of how much room I have to move on the price. Granted not all will be so willing to drop but now I know where to set the target .
Thanks everyone who has had some input.

The net has just helped me get an idea of what prices and stock they tend to get in even if its not spot on current. In anycase I've just called close and they still have the bike and they close in 20 minutes. Planning on being on the doorstep when they open.
Starting to get a little excited.
Mop up isle me mop up isle me

they had a zxr250 I was interested in.
they claimed it was one of the ones sold new in Aus and was in immaculate condition.
I went there to have a look and it appeared it had been stacked and repaired to me.
some bloke was sitting at a desk staring into space the whole time I was there and never got up to ask if he could help me out.
I walked out the door without asking any questions.

I agree with tyre kicker.
I went to Close a few weeks ago to check out their range of second hand bikes and to ask them about their new new bikes (which are only Hysong GTR 650's & 250's).
The guy wasn't doing much behind the desk and only talked to me after it became obvious I was not going to leave until I had a good sticky beak in the shop for quite a while (I think he would have prefered me to POQ instead).
He was in my opinion, full of crap. The Hysong's were the best value bikes in the country, and he would be doing me a favour by selling me one. Apparantly they are selling so well he can't meet supply with demand. Anyway, despite their excellent website (which I will admit is one of the best I have seen), their face to face service is in a word "SHIT".
ps. If anyone knows anything about the Hysong's, please see my posting in the bike model general discussion.
