Yep me too. I just go off the revs, only gears I need to know about is being in first to take off from lights etc., and also make sure I am in top on the hwy. I do have one advantage though, and that is that my bike makes a slightly louder gearbox whine when I go back to second, so that helps. I tend to go through the gears a lot on the bike, even just riding to work.
On the track it is more of the same really. I just change down a certain amount of gears for a corner, and up a certain amount for a straight. In the end I guess I know what gear I am in, but it is not what I am thinking about. I just know to go down 3 gears for turn 3, up 2 and then down 2 into turn 4/5, same again for 6, up 2 down 1 into turn 1/2, and up 2 down 3 again down the back straight into turn 3 etc. etc. If that does not add up then I have fucked it up somewhere lol.

Wouldnt have a clue at the track half of the time i just change when the shift light blinks at 12500 and continue along my merry way.
Sometimes i will change down on the way out of a corner if i have fudged it on the way in and didnt have time to change down without screwing the whole corner up.
Would be handy to have a idiot light to tell you but you do get used to the bike you are on.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Down 2 for turn 1, down 1 for turn two, up 2 for turn 3, down 3 for turn four, up one for turns 5 and 6, up 1 for turn 7, up 1 for turn 8, down 1 for turn 9, down 2 for turn 10, up 1 for turn 11, up 1 for turn 12, up 2 down the straight.
Though i can remember those changes without a prob, it takes a fair bit of concentration to work out what gear i'm in at any point on the track. i got better things to concentrate on, like wondering why i can't see the track ahead of me, only water.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
