Unfortunately, you can't trust anyone you don't know with 10K worth of bike, when i sold my 636 recently, anyone who wanted a test ride had to leave the full advertised price as a deposit, "you bin it you bought it" but it also protects you from theft and sorts out the time wasters.
Just the way it is now.
Good luck to him anyway, hope it works out one way or the other.

That's bad news... i was just thinking how different these forums were to the UK mcnninjas one where people are always posting there bike being stolen..
I think it's a good idea for them to bring the full cash with them so if they knick it or bin it, it's there's....
If they are serious, they won't mind... u don't want some muppet just going for a blast for a laugh.
When I ride out and park the bike, i have a lock at the front and a alarm setup so no tea leaf will get on my 636.
Good luck getting the bike back.

bad news dude...
ive only ever ridden test bikes from dealers or mates...oh and when i tested my old kdx i left my blade (and my ex) in the guys garage....and his bro went wiv me...
these are the dramas of selling a bike privately...almost makes it worth trading them in..

When i sold my old bike i got a drivers license off the guy buying as well as sighting a secondary form of ID (c-card). His mate tookit out for a spin up & down the street and was happy with it & i sold it.
He was a bit of an annoyance in that he barganed rather firmly and took ages to pony up the $2k for the bike (i gave him 4 days, he took a week and a half).
Funny enough i had advertised it on ocau/mc when i sold it and saw it again 7 months later again for sale on ocau/mc with a max of 1000km more on the odo! I never did like the guy too much, but he gave me the $, so i was happy (eventually).
